Introduce polymeric material

one of the commonly used, used for commercial applications,
low cost, high production worldwide, many types, etc.
(Choose few points to introduce this material by saying e.g.,
X polymer is popular due to its excellent heat stability and
low cost)

Monomer: name, molecular formula

Polymerisation method:
A representative polymerisation reaction.
Crosslinking reaction in the case of thermosets
Grades or types of polymer if exists.
Name of producers

Important physical properties

How molecular structure is related to the physical
properties (what is the influence of aromatic ring,
functional groups on the physical properties of the
material)

Melting point, glass transition temperature, crystallinity,

degradation temperature, corrosion resistance/chemical
resistance.
Commercial availability : Liquid or granules, etc.

Which processing techniques are used to produce

products with this materials?
Limitation of this material

Typical application of this polymer , general applications

of this polymer (application areas)

Recent research on this material: Find two recently published

article (either of year 2013 or 2014) through sciencedirect or ISI
web of knowledge on this polymer. Briefly explain what
researchers did in these two articles (e.g., they produced a new
grade of this polymer and found improvement in properties or
they developed a composite material using this polymer and
explored applications for heat dissipation applications.

Pick up two important graphs from these two selected

articles ( preferably graphs which show the strength of
this polymer or any other properties)

Conclusion
A one or two line sentence to close the presentation.
For example, this polymer has already been used extensively in packaging
applications but
Due to the development of its new grades this polymer is now a popular choice
for production of composite materials for aerospace applications.
Instructions:
i. You will have 4-5 minutes to present your work.
ii. Your slides should be nicely prepared . Total number of slides should not be
more than 6.
iii. Make sure that slides are not saturated, just write few lines/points in the

iv. Use Arial font throughout. The font size for headings is 28 and for text is 2024.
v. Give references for the graphs at the bottom of the slide.
vi. Rehearsal your presentation. Make sure that you can conclude your talk in 5minutes. Focus on dissemination of knowledge.
vii. You may be asked questions at the end of presentation.
viii. Presentations will be taken from 2ndd week of April 2016.
