CompactFlash Features
CompactFlash features will be continue to be
enhanced and expanded over time:
Standard Type I CompactFlash supported at initial release
Industrial Rated, fully tested and qualified CompactFlash card (1784CF64) available from Rockwell Automation
Same card works in ControlLogix L6x products and Panelview Plus family.

RSLogix v12 Release:

Ability to store user program from RAM to flash
Initiated via RSLogix 5000
Ability to load CF program to RAM on BOOTUP or Bad RAM
The v12 release will also support the ability to store the matching
controller firmware from the CompactFlash. When the program is
being loaded into RAM the processor checks for the appropriate firmware.
If the processors firmware does not match the program, the processor
overwrites the existing firmware with the matching firmware stored on the
CompactFlash.
The firmware is automatically stored on the card when a program to
CompactFlash store via RSLogix5000 is initiated

CompactLogix L35E
The 1769-L35E processor will ship without firmware at
initial release
An out-of-the-box processors RS-232 and Ethernet ports will still be
supported via RSLinx
The user can flash an out-of-the-box processor using Controlflash
software and RSLinx
The user can flash an out-of-the-box processor using a CompactFlash
card that was previously loaded with a v12 program via RSLogix v12.
Note: the processor program/firmware can only be loaded on
CompactFlash via a processor. The program must be compiled and
downloaded to the processors RAM then transferred from RAM to
CompactFlash.
