Le Morte DArthur
The

story begins when king Arthur left

the kingdom to sir Mordred(his
bastard/illegitimate son)for a military
expedition. This corrupt and ambitious
sir Mordred produced a false letter
written that king Arthur was killed in
the battle with sir Lancelot. He
crowned himself at Canterbury and
held a 15 days feast.

Tried to marry Queen Guinevere the

wife of his father King Arthur. But Queen
Guinevere locked herself at the tower of
London guarded with victals and many
armed men's. When King Arthur
receives word of Sir Mordred treachery
he sails back to England, forcing Sir
Mordreds troops to retreat at Dover.
King Arthur manages to force Mordreds
army back to Salisbury plain, where the
two parties agreed to battle on the
Monday after the Trinity Sunday.

The last night of

King Arthur

The night before the battle, King Arthur

dreams that his tied to a wheel that plunges
into black water full of serpents and horrible
beasts. That doesnt sounds like a very good
sign. What is worse, he also dreams that sir
Gawain tells him that he will die the next day
if he goes to battle with sir Mordred. Because
of this vision, King Arthurs knight advises him
to make peace with sir Mordred and abandon
some lands to him, so he can stay alive. Sir
Mordred agrees to this. But during the signing
of treaty, the presence of o black snake
causes one of Sir Mordreds to draw his
sword, leading all the knights to begin to
fight.

King

Arthur kills sir Mordred

by running him through with a
spear but, before he sinks to
the ground, sir Mordred
plunges his own sword into
king Arthurs head. Ouch.
Thats gonna leave a mark.

Aware

that he was received his

death-wound, king Arthur tells
sir Bedivere to throw his sword
into a nearby lake. Sir Bedivere
hesitates at first, but upon his
third attempt he manages to
throw the sword in, upon which
he sees a hand rise from the
lake and catch it.

When King Arthur hears this, he tells

sir
Bedivere to take him to lakeside
.

There, a barge
bearing three ladies
takes king Arthur body
avylyon where king
Arthur says, he will
either be healed of his
wounds or die.

Sir Bedivere comes to the chapel where

the archbishop of Canterbury has
withdrawn, and there, finds king Arthurs
body. He decides to become a hermit
there. The narrator tells us that king
Arthur was taken away on the barge by his
two aunts Morgan Le Fay and the Queen of
North Gales, along with the Queen of the
waste lands and Dame Nyneyve. He also
tells us that some people believe that king
Arthur did not die, but only went to
another place from which he will return to
complete the crusades.

People

also say that

written upon his tomb is
Hic iacet Arthurus,rex
quondam rexque
futurus- Here lies
Arthur, The once and
