Consider it pure joy, my brothers
and sisters,whenever you face trials
of many kinds,3because you know that
the testing of your faith produces
perseverance.

LIFE of ABRAHAM,
his RESPONSE TO GODs
TESTING of FAITH
(Genesis 22)

Some time later God testedAbraham. He said to


him, Abraham!
Here I am,he replied.

Then God said, Take your son, your only son,


whom you loveIsaacand go to the region of
Moriah.
Sacrifice him there as a burnt offeringon a
mountain I will show you.

Early the next morningAbraham got up and


loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his

On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the


place in the distance.5He said to his servants,
Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy
go over there. We will worship and then we will
come back to you.

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering


and placed it on his son Isaac,and he himself
carried the fire and the knife.As the two of
them went on together,7Isaac spoke up and said
to his father Abraham, Father?

Abraham answered, God himself will


providethe lambfor the burnt offering, my
son. And the two of them went on together.

When they reached the place God had told him


about,Abraham built an altarthere and
arranged the woodon it. He bound his son
Isaac and laid him on the altar,on top of
the wood.10Then he reached out his hand and
took the knifeto slay his son. 11But the
angel of theLORDcalled out to him from

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he


saw a ram[a]caught by its horns.He went over
and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt
offering instead of his son. 14So Abraham
calledthat place TheLORDWill Provide. And
to this day it is said, On the mountain of

11: 17,18

By faith Abraham.. who had received


the promises was about to sacrifice his
one and only son,18even though God
had said to him, It is through Isaac that
your offspring will be reckoned. (will be
named)

GOD PROMISED ABRAHAM - SON


GOD ASKED HIM TO SACRIFICE HIS ONLY SON
ABRAHAM DID NOT WAVER HIS FAITH
HE CONTINUED TO TRUST GOD

GENESIS

22: 7-8

Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham,


Father?
Yes, my son? Abraham replied.
The fire and wood are here, Isaac said, but
where is the lambfor the burnt offering?
8Abraham answered, God himself will
providethe lambfor the burnt offering, my son.
And the two of them went on together.

Abraham knew GOD is FAITHFUL


GOD is a COVENANT KEEPER, HE fulfills His
PROMISES
HE is LOVING, FAITHFUL and UNCHANGING GOD
His WILL for US is ALWAYS
GOOD
PLEASING and
PERFECT

TRUST GODs POWER.

HEBREWS 11: 19

Abraham reasoned that God could even


raise the dead,and so in a manner of
speaking he did receive Isaac back
from death.

Romans 4: 20,21

Yet he did not waver through unbelief


regarding the promise of God, but was
strengthenedin his faith and gave
glory to God,21being fully persuaded
that God had power to do what he had
promised.

In the midst of a seemingly IMPOSSIBLE


SITUATION
Abraham TRUSTED GOD
He BELIEVED that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE for
HIM
He PASSED the TEST
He was COMMENDED for his FAITH
He saw GODs PROVISION for them
