Was there change of power?

Yes. When Columbus came, there was a lot of fighting that went
on against the Native Americans. Eventually, the Native
Americans won because the Natives died from diseases and
were killed by the Europeans superior technology.
What was the political situation there?
The New Worlds leader were the Europeans since they had
overthrown the Native Americans. They also overthrew the
Mayans while the Aztecs and the Incans were defeated by other
Spanish explorers.
Why was Columbus always remembered as the heroic person
who discovered America when he really wasnt?
Columbus was remembered because he was the only one who
actually succeeded in colonizing the New World.

Because all though Leif Ericson was the first one to explore the
new world he was not the first one to colonize the Americas, the
first person to colonize the Americas was Christopher Columbus
and so that is why CC gets all the credit.

We can use this
main idea so that people are not misunderstood.
We all know that Leif Ericson was the first person to discover the
New World and we believe that history should give Leif that
accomplishment. But Christopher Columbus did something that
we give him our thanks. He colonized the Americas and that is a
very good thing. So to sum it all up, we can use this main idea so
that history or not misunderstood in later years and more history
to come.

IS THERE AN OVERALL
IDEA?
There is definitely an overall idea. So the overall idea is that
although Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, he
was not the first one to discover it. The first person to discover
the Americas was Leif Ericson. Leif Ericson was a viking and he
tried to colonize but the Native Americans kicked him out. Then
in 1492, Christopher Columbus came to the Americas and
successfully colonized America.. Also, when the Europeans came
they kind of kicked out the other tribes and civilizations that
were already living there through disease and vastly superior
weapons/tools. Christopher Columbus is famous because he
colonized the Americas and that is why he is remembered.
