5620 SAM Service Assurance

50 | Product Overview

Copyright 2010 Alcatel-Lucent. All rights reserved. XXXXX

Service Assurance Data integrity

The 5620 SAM together with the 7x50 have the inbuilt ability to ensure that
information passed between them is not lost
The 7x50 uses SNMP to notify 5620 SAM of any alarms or events
Alarms such a port faults are sent as SNMP traps
Events such as accounting records creation are also sent as SNMP traps

Each SNMP trap is given a sequence number, if the 5620 SAM receives a SNMP trap
that is out of sequence the 5620 SAM will automatically query the respective
router and retrieve the missing SNMP traps
This for example would then ensure that all accounting records are retrieved
from the network and stored centrally in 5620 SAM
Data integrity & resilience

51 | Product Overview

Service Assurance Alarm handling

Alarm polices can be applied to control
5620 SAM alarm management behaviour
Dynamic and historical alarm lists
Dynamic
real-time alarms
