Robot

Robot exactly, is a system that contains sensors, control systems, manipulators,

power supplies and software all working together to perform a task.

Designing, building, programming and testing a robot is a combination of

physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering,
mathematics and computing.

OBJECTIVES

This project deals with Fire sensor controlled Robot.

It is used as fire extinguisher i.e. it sprinkles water on to fire.

This robot run on the command provided by DTMF

This can be moved forward and reverse direction using

geared motors and can take sharp turnings.
The robot commands are taken from the basic handset

TECHNOLOGY/IDEA

IR based robot can also be used as fire extinguisher i.e. it

sprinkles water on to fire.
The fire sensor device detect the temperature with in 5m
range
While detecting the exhausted fan on automatically pressed then
the motor gets switched on which in turn switches on water
sprinkler/ exhausted fan

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE

REQUIREMENTS

Software Tools:
WINAVR to compile the source file and generate the hex code.
AVR Studio 4.18
AT Prog to programmer the microcontroller
Hardware Tools:
AVR Microcontroller
Gas detector.
Buzzer circuit
DC motors and L293D for Robot.

Block diagram

MICRO CONTROLLER
A microcontroller is an integrated chip with minimum required
devices.
The microcontroller includes a CPU: ALU ,PC,SP and
registers, RAM, ROM, I/O ports, and timers like a standard
computer because they are designed to execute only a single
specific task to control a single system,
They are much smaller and simplified so that they can include
all the functions required on a single chip.

Features of microcontroller

Compatible with MCS-51 Products

4K Bytes of In-System Reprogrammable Flash Memory

Endurance: 1,000 Write/Erase Cycles

Fully Static Operation: 0 Hz to 24 MHz

Three-level Program Memory Lock

Two 16-bit Timer/Counters

128 x 8-bit Internal RAM

32 Programmable I/O Lines
Six Interrupt Sources
Programmable Serial Channel
Low-power Idle and Power-down Modes

Internal block diagram

ADVANTAGES OF MICROCONTROLLERS
Their powerful, cleverly chosen electronics is able to control a
variety of processes and devices (industrial automatics,
voltage, temperature, engines, etc) independently or by
means of I/O instruments such as switches, buttons, sensors,
LCD screens, relays etc

PIN CONFIGURATION

Smoke sensor
Sensors are used to collect information about the internal state of
ROBOT or to communicate with external environment.

Motors are the devices that provide the actual speed and torque in a
drive system.

RELAY
A relay is an electrical switch that uses an electromagnet to
move the switch
from the off to on position instead of a person moving the
switch. It takes a
relatively small amount of power to turn on a relay but the
relay can control
something that draws much more power. Ex: A relay is used
to control the air
watts to pull the contacts together.

Power Supply

Working
When the flame or high temperature point is detected, the Robot
motion will stop automatically and indicates fire has been detected .

Then the Signals from the sensors are sent to the computer
terminal and it activates the fire preventive system.
This is movement based robot. It used to sense the fire and spreads
the water over that direction.
o

In this, we use RF communication to communicate between robot

and control room that is placed in a remote place.

Advantages
The fire detecting Robots helps in following ways
To detect the exact direction of the fire source.

Capability of sensing accurately with increased flexibility Low

cost in the long run Reliable and economical

Applications

Can be used in record maintaining rooms

Can be used in Server rooms
Can be used in extinguishing fire where probability
of explosion is highattention.
-At power plant control rooms.
-At captain bridges.
-At flight control centers.

Conclusion
The project FIRE SENSING ROBOT has been
successfully designed and tested.
Integrating features of all the hardware components
used have developed it.
Presence of every module has been reasoned out and
placed carefully thus contributing to the best working
of the unit.

Future Scope
The project has been motivated by the desire to design a system that
can detect fires and take appropriate action, without any human
intervention. . This
provides us the opportunity to pass on to robots tasks that
traditionally humans had to do but were inherently lifethreatening.
Fire-fighting is an obvious candidate for such
automation
