ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION
Stability of any structure depends on the properties of soil.
Where weak soil & soft soil is not possible to replace with
sandy soil, the fibre reinforced soil being used. Now a days
in geotechnical engineering the idea of inserting fibre in soft
soil to improve its soil properties has become very popular.
Using land having soft soil for construction leads to various
ground improvement techniques such as soil stabilization and
reinforcement.

LITERATURE REVIEW
The sharp increase in bearing capacity was found
by adding polyester fibers in highly compressible
clayey soil.
The SBC of unreinforced clayey soil was found to
be 62.4 kN/m2.
The SBC was found 220 kN/m2 for fiber
reinforced soil
Having optimum fiber content of 0.50% and
optimum depth of fiber reinforced soil b/4.
There was slight increase in bearing capacity of
highly compressible clayey soil with increase in
size of footing.

3) Performance of Fiber Reinforced Clayey Soil.
This is attributed to the fact that for shorter fibers, the area in
contact with soil is comparatively less and hence there is a less
improvement in strength and stiffness of soil.
The CBR value of soil increases with the increase in length and
diameter of fiber.

The SBC and SBP both increase with increase in fiber content
up to 0.50% and then it decrease with further inclusion of fibers.
The SBC and SBP are maximum at 0.50% fiber content having
25 mm depth of fiber reinforced soil (B/4).
