INTRODUCTION
The codicology is part of the philology
studies. In other words, codicology is part
of the some topics in philological studies
Actually, codicology is study of fisical
manuscript in the classical literature, like
the Malay manuscript of Durrtul Faraid by
Ar-Raniri. Durrt Al-Farid Bi Syarh
Al-Aqid is put away in The National
Library and has number Ml. 792.

Codicology :
codex = compilation of manuscript,
manuscript colectives

PHILOLOGY AND CODICOLOGY

1. Codicology is study classical manuscript
in the classical literature,especially about
fisical or material manuscript. The fisicals
manuscript are study about illumination,
illustration, covering, numbering, paper,
watermak, etc.
2. Philology is study of classical
manuscript, a both material philology is
fisical manuscript and textual
manuscript, content of the text.

 The Malay manuscript of Durratul Faraid by Ar-Raniri. Durrt

Al-Farid Bi Syarh Al-Aqid is put away in The National
Library and has number Ml. 792. The second manuscript,
same the title, is put in the personal collected in Aceh. This
manuscript is contant abaout concept of classical theology in
Islam.

There are Three reasons for choosing this manuscripts.

First, it concists of an Asyariyah theology wich is followed by
most of the Moslems in the world. Second, the theology has
not been thought to the Moslem societies in a comprehensive
way. Third, there is a school of inclusive and pluralist Islam
with the freedom of having a religion as one of its principles.

I uses two methods, those are philological method and

thematic method. The philological method has an aim to get
text that is far from error. The thematic method, on the other
hand, aims to study the main topic of the text. The last method
is used the analyze the traits of Allah such as al-Qadim, albaqa, ruyatullah; to answer whether the Quran is qadim or
jaded; and analyze the traits of Allah that is tanzih or tasybih.

ASPECT OF CODICOLOGY
STUDIES

The Codicology studies is derivied to

some aspects, for example, the history
of manuscript, fisical condition of
manuscript, transmission of manuscript,
scriptorium of manuscript, and expancy
of manuscript.
The fisical manuscript study about
illumination, illustration, covering,
numbering, paper, watermak, manuscript
digitalisation etc.
