Summary

Purpose
To make a system that can provide an artificial
lights(blue and red LEDs) for indoor planting to increase
the growth of plant.
To see the distribution of light undergoes photosynthesis
by using the specific wavelength of light in stead of
using white light(sunlight). To optimize provision of light.
This proposed system will allow indoor planting in areas
with minimal light - can be used anywhere - especially
suits people living in homes with no land such as condos
Also has irrigation system via soil moisture testing and
water level sensing system to ensure water in water tank
always available and alerts user if water below set
threshold
System provides full system for indoor planting and
DIY/hobby gardening/planting

Description of Major
Tasks

Design Task 1 will consist of

Proteus or other simulators (circuit and simulation)
Arduino (coding)
Design Task 2 will consist of
Tested all the sensors one by one
Tested the all the LEDs to make sure all in the good
condition
Each tested with the designed Arduino source code
Design Task 3 will consists of
Hardware for whole system
Soldering all the electronic components

Progress in Simulation

Not possible to provide due to bugs with the

Arduino Library on Proteus
However, hardware was successfully implemented
Online simulation software 123d.io of Autodesk
was just found, thus, testing of the source code
via simulation planned to be done using this
online platform during this week

Progress in Hardware

Almost 50% done. Already tested functionality all

of the sensors to the soil and coding. The output
printed on LCD in satisfied as we aimed for.
The only part is not finish with the blue and red
LEDs because the component is still in shipping
and certain passive components
As well as calibration of the sensors to the desired
measurements have yet to be completed
Prior the soldering and setting-up of hardware and
calibration of sensors, the system will be ready for
testing with actual plant(s)

Summary

Our main function in this project is all about

artificial lighting. But we have proposed the
necessity for a plant to growth such as water
system and also monitoring the soil moisture.
We have done an experiment to test the water
sensor and also moisture sensor within an output
on LCD screen.
The design and implementation plan has a
reasonable schedule with subtasks;
Task 1
Task 2
Task 3
