As bucket engages the cut, the rear of bucket lifts

slightly, pulling the center teeth out of the material.
With the force concentrated on the corner teeth, there
is less resistance and bucket penetrates ESCO
better.

Chain Terminology

Chains are sold in strands

A strand is usually made up of:
Intermediate Links the links making up the main
portion of the chain strand
Stud End links an end link with a hole, usually
bushed, that accepts a pin to lock the chain in place.
OR
Pear End links an end link that is pear shaped, with
extra wear metal. A shackle fits through a pear link to
fasten the chain in place.
Some chains have STEP UP Links, where the size of
links near the end is bigger than the intermediate links.

Strands can be:

Opposite Plane a strand with an even number of
links, resulting in the end links being 90 degrees apart
in orientation.
Same Plane a strand with an odd number of links,
resulting in the end links being in the same orientation.

end, 20 links in between the end links
300S312P312-9 would consist of (7) 3
inch intermediates, (2) 3.5 step up links,
a 3.5 Stud link on one end, and a 3.5
Pear end link on the other end.
Field Terminology
7 & 2 or 7 +2 Means 7 intermediate
links and 2 end links.

Chain Terminology

Common Inquiries
I need a quote on a socket
ESCO utilizes Long Bowl sockets
TM

Typically will accommodate 3 different rope sizes

Different sockets have different bowl angles

Dump sockets have a tighter angle for

better grip.
Drag sockets have a less tight angle for
easier removal

Most wedges are specified by 1/8 rope

increments
Example: W25A; divide by 8, wedge is 3-1/8
rope
There are oddballs, however, so be sure to check

Catalog Usage for Problem Solving

Tabs identify the major sections

First determine what area of the bucket they are talking

about: Lip, Hitch, Trunnion, Anchor, etc.

Titles across the top identify the part name

Key things to help you when searching:
Pin Size - #1 Key thing for many parts
Male or Female (Clevis or solid end)
For shrouds, identify the lip width and nose size, and find
that section.
For dumpblocks, identify the diameter to start with.

Maintenance Pieces - Available on Steel Network

Other Common Questions

I am looking for a replacement bushing for a PDEXXXXX link.

I need a pin for a CEXXXX link.
Solution: For these two, go to the spec book first. If you cant find it
there, go to agile for the drawing. The notes on drawings sometimes
call out Mating Parts.

I have a part number A14358 but it doesnt come up.

Put a C in front of this and try in Oracle. Old PMIDs sometimes
didnt utilize the first letter.

I need a CE9847A#5 but there are none available. Can we use a

CE9847A#3 instead?
Send this to Product Coordinator. The #s on the back of parts
designate minor variations, such as different pin sizes. Product Team
will research and advise you what options may exist.
