Determination of Coastal Priority Area

Through Shoreline Change Detection

Using Temporal Imagenary Data and GIS
Technology
(Case Study : Tirtayasas Zone, Kabupaten Serang)

BACKGROUND

BACKGROUND

There was a abrasion problem on the north coast of the Serang District

Shoreline retreat is so big in the last 10 years. It is estimated that more

than 500 meters.

Shoreline Change make farm and residential in north coast of the

Serang District terancam

On Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah (RTRW), RZWP3K and Rencana

Strategis Wilayah Pesisir document does not consider shoreline change

Therefore research through coastal ecosystem damage base shoreline

change is needed

FRAMEWORK of SHORELINE
ANALYSIS

RADIOMETRIC and GEOMETRIC

PPROCESS

To determine shoreline changes in Tirtayasas Zone,

researcher used remote sensing analysis through Landsat
Image data Landsat TM/7 +ranging from 1999, 2006 and
2013.
Firstly, image data landsat TM/7+ have to through geometric
and radiometric process on Global Mapper Program, then
imagenary data cropped at the specified location.
radiometric process aims to sharpen imagenary data,
that the result of classification can be more accurate.
geometric process serves to justify the wrong coodinates,
that the data map can be in the correct position.

IMAGENARY DATA COMPOSITE and

UNSUPERVISED CLASSIFICATION
Researchers used Band-4, 5, and 7 because each band has
different characteristics.
Band-4 (0.75 mm - 0.90 mm) can be used to collect shoreline
information is covered by vegetation
Band-5 (1.75 mm -1.55 mm) and Band-7 (2.08 mm 2.35 mm)
respectively can be used to obtain shoreline information is covered by
soil and rocks.

After composite process, then image data classified by

Unsupervised Classification to clarify boundary of between
land and sea
Composite and supervised classification process is done in the
Global Mapper Program
