Meaning of Attitude
Attitude is an evaluative statement- either favorable or
unfavorable concerning objects, people, or events.
Attitude is the lens through which an individual tries to see
the external environment.
An attitude is a mental state of readiness, learned and
organized through experience, exerting a specific
influence on persons response to people, object and
situations with which it is related.
Nature of Attitudes
Attitudes are established and organized by learning.
Attitudes refer to feelings and beliefs of an individual or
groups of people.
Attitudes tend to persist unless something is done to
change them. For example, X does not like working the night
shift. He has a negative attitude toward his work assignment. If
X is transferred to day shift, his attitude may become positive.
Attitude can fall anywhere along a continuum for very
favorable to very unfavorable. For example at present Xs
attitude may be moderately unfavorable. If he is transferred to
the day shift, his attitude may change to highly favorable.

based on the employees moral and personal value
system.
Continuance Commitment: It is based on the cost
an employee associates with leaving the
