Austria declared war against

28th July 1914

For saving the Balkan Area Russia

started giving help to Serbia in the
war.

Kaisar William 2 of
Germany warned
Russia to retreat its
army within 12
hours.

Russia did not heed to the

warning and Germany declared
war on Russia.

Raymond Poincare of France decided

to support Russia, thus Germany
declared war against France too.

Breaking the Triple Entente

Vittorio Emanuel 3 of Italy
entered the war in 1915 on
the side of George 5 of
England and France.

Germany attacked
Belgium and France
strongly.

Due to Germanys aggressiveness

England which was neutral at the
start had to enter in
the war.

Germany utilized
submarines against
England.

After the communist revolution in Russia,

Bolshevik government came into power on
7th November 1917 .Lenin made an
agreement an came out of the World War1.

German submarines attacked

an American ship Lusitania
.Germany did not budge in spite
of several warnings issued by
America. American passengers
on the board were killed.

Germany kept using

submarines. Thus
American President
Woodrow Wilson
declared war
against Germany
on 6th April 1917.

All the allied nations started blocking

government, G. Fredrick
Ebert the new President
declared to surrender as per
the 14 points of Woodrow
Wilson & signed on 11th
November 1918 & ended the
war.

Paris Treaty also known as Treaty Of

Peace was signed on 1919-20 between
The Allied & The Associated Powers was
very unjust.

On 28 June 1919, the

victors met at the Hall of
Mirrors in the Palace of
Versailles, near Paris, and
the two Germans were
called into the room and
instructed to sign
.

The main points of the Treaty [BRAT]

The first 26 Articles of the Treaty set out the Covenant of the League of Nations; the rest of the
440 Articles detailed Germany's punishment:
1. Germany had to accept the Blame for starting the war (Clause 231). 2. Germany had to
pay 6,600 million (called Reparations) for the damage done during the war.
3. Germany was forbidden to have submarines or an air force. She could have a navy of
only six battleships, and an Army of just 100,000 men. In addition, Germany was not allowed
to place any troops in the Rhineland, the strip of land, 50 miles wide, next to France.
4. Germany lost Territory (land) in Europe (see map, below). Germanys colonies were given
to Britain and France.
(Also, Germany was forbidden to join the League of Nations, or unite with Austria.)

In this way the

Versailles was
proved to be
very unjust,
insulting &
humiliating

All the countries which entered the WAR

faced economic crisis leaving America.
