We have three different pieces of music in our production these include the
Introductory music, Flashback music and Ending music. The
Music aids the understanding of the representation of characters. The first piece of music in the
thriller is deliberately intense to enhance the characters feeling. We denote a female
character sitting on the couch, the accompaniment helps set her mood. Woman as often
stereotyped as very emotional and weak which the soft composition signifies. The music
communicates to the audience almost straight away that she is the victim, it not only sets
the tone for the atmosphere but confirms the publics views towards women.

The flashback music is low, dark and rapid to convey the characters, we connote from the music
that the man walking is not up to good as the pace signifies trouble. The music accompanies
an arrest by undercover police and compliments the few quick cuts that we included. The
character being arrested is the stalker, the music is malicious which portrays he intentions
of the stalker.

During the titles a very short piece of music is played, it is used to foreshadow the narrative for
later on. The last piece music we produced ourselves, it creates suspense for the audience as
the stalker followers the victim. It enable the viewer to feel nervous for the victim and
uncomfortable around the antagonist.

The music in the production is conventional as helps convey the personalities and thoughts of
the characters and supports the thriller genre. The music arrangement in the opening
sequence is very relevant to the acting and helps anchor the meaning. the slow dark
compositions imitates those that often play in thrillers.

The thriller starts with a woman flicking through a
scrapbook of baby pictures, we then denote a
newspaper cutting that suggests a tragedy had
occurred in the past. The audience is able to pick up
little details on these indexical signs. Even though the
narrative or acting doesnƍt inform the viewer about
the babies death the audience can accurately assume
the case. The opening sequence instantly leaves the
audience asking questions which is what all good
thrillers are meant to do. Shots were used to
communicate proppƍs characters, in the opening
sequence we establish who the vilain and victim are.

The use of ethnic actors represents a wide %&

range of
culture and backgrounds in society. The
production would not only appeal to only
British people but people that are from abroad.

In our production we used a male character to

represent the antagonist and a female
character to portray the victim. This is
conventional as the role of the antagonist and
protagonist/victim are always played in the
order of male and female in most thrillers.

The stereotypical perception of women is that they

are weaker than men and more prone to
danger. Women are typically targeted as
victims in thrillers. We used this stereo types to
help create characters for our production.
