Course credits: 3

Time allocation: 15 weeks

Learners: students of industrial management major

Prerequisite: General English

Course overview
This course aims to facilitate both oral
and written communication within a
business context. Students will be
provided with opportunities to practice
all four language skills listening, reading,
speaking and writing. They will also
address the challenges of conducting
business with partners from different
cultural backgrounds and areas of
operation.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be
able to:
have a working knowledge of business
words, phrases and terms.
understand how the English language is
used in various business situations.
read English newspaper articles/ listen
English news relating to business topics
and discuss them

Course Objectives
write letters, enquiries, CV, description
for a product and reports in English
broaden knowledge of business major.
prepare and deliver individual and group
presentations in English on business
related topics.
analyze case studies and provide effective
solutions in English.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Students who do not meet one of the
following tasks will be suspended from
examination:
- Attendance: at least 80%,
- Assignments: completing 100% of assigned
homework,
- Group assignments: participating 100% of
assigned tasks in class.
