CLIMATE

CHANGE

Main Idea : Climate has change with

detrimental consequences
Every location of EARTH has its own typical weather patterns that
make up its climate.
There are difference in climate may be seen in varying types of
vegetation in different climate
zone . According to general , in general climate determined by the
sun s incidence angle , main
wind direction , ocean currents , water supply and altitude .Gradual
climate change allows
Organisms to adapt hostile environment . But when the climate
change is abrupt , many
organisms cannot adapt . A common example of such abrupt change
is the extinction of the
dinosaurs .The dinosaurs are died because of cold earths climate .
This was not the only great
extinction event . Geological studies have found at least five major
climatic changes that have

1.HUMAN-CAUSED CLIMATE
CHANGE
The WMO established the IPPC in 1988 to provide a
clear , scientific view of climate change and also its
Potential environmental and economic consequences.
Thousands of scientists who convened and
contributed the work of IPPC . In this assessment
Report in 1995 , the IPPC concluded that :
1.The world s climate significantly over past century.
2.This significant had human influence.
3.Using climate models and if the trends continuous
the global mean surface temperature will increase
between 1(degree)C and 3.5(degrees)C by 2100.
According to experts the potential of climate change to
change life in our planet is higher than a phenomena

2.NATURAL GREENHOUSE EFFECT

Have you seen a green house? There are greenhouse
that look like
small house made up of glass . The glasses are used to
grow plants ,
especially during winter seasons. The glass walls allows
sunlight to
penetrate but keep heat from escaping. Greenhouse
gasses such as
water vapor and carbon dioxide as well as clouds and
areoles trap ,
some of the heat in the lower part of EARTHS atmosphere
and the

3.ENHANCED GREENHOUSE EFFECT

Human activities increase the amount of some
greenhouse gasses ,
especially carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Burning of
forest fuels ,
natural gas, and biomass, deforestation and cementmaking are just
among the many activities that contribute to the 8.5
billion metric tons
of carbon dioxide released per year. As a greenhouse gas
, carbon
dioxide absorb radiation from the sun and warms the air .
If the
atmosphere
have many greenhouse gasses in the

4.EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING

We are already living witnesses of how
warmer
GLOBAL temperatures alter EARTHS
natural
system.
1.Human health is affected due to extreme
cold.
2.Occurrence of more violent storms.
3.Extinction of species.
4.Decreased food production.

5.CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE PHILIPPINE

Filipinos are accustomed in strong typhoon , flood and droughts and is
probably one reason
why we take the effect of climate change for granted. People continue their
activities ,
unmindful of the drastic effects on life and environment . Many typhoons
have ravaged
coastal communities. Thousands of people are missing. Mud , logs and other
debris washed
their homes .
The most pronounced threats of climate change in the Philippines are the
following:
SEA LEVEL

POSSIBLE
SOLUTIONS
As a member of global community , everyone must help clean the air we breathe ,
conserving energy at home , in school or the community will help reduce the fossil
fuel use , produce less electricity , and therefore minimize air pollution.

Here are some things you teenagers can do by

preventing the climate change:
1.Turn off appliances when not in use.
2.Use only electric appliances when you need them.
3.Insulate your home as best as you can.
4.Save water.
5.Plant trees that will help remove carbon dioxide from
the atmosphere.
