DEFINATION :
A stair may be defined as series of
steps suitably arranged for the purpose of
connecting different floors of building.

STRAIGHT STAIRS
It is a staircase having a
single , straight flight of
stairs that connect two
levels or floor in a building.
The construction is much
simpler and less time
consuming.
Lower the risks of
accidents as it we get clear
view of all stairs .
Drawback is it require
more space .
3 QUARTER TURN
When
BIFURCATED STAIRS
The two narrow start
from either side of midlanding.
Very commonly used in
public buildings.
In these type of stairs
the flight are so arranged
that there is wide flight at
the start which are subdivided into narrow flight
at the mid-landing.
These type of stairs are
mostly centrally located.
CIRCULAR STAIRS
The stairs when
viewed from above
appear to follow a
circle with a singe
center of curvature
and large radius.
The circular stairs are
commonly
constructed in RCC,
cast-iron and stone.
SPIRAL STAIRS
FABRICATED STAIRS
Timber stairs : These are generally used in residential
building because of there light weight.
These stairs are used where fire resistance
is not of much importance.
The timber used should be free from fungal
decay and insect attack.
Metal stairs : The stair of mild steel and cast-iron are
used in factories, workshops. In these type of stairs riser
are open.
These stairs make lots of noise when used
by user. Moreover it is fire resistant.
Pre-cast concrete stairs : Pre-cast concrete units are
nowadays available for construction for concrete stairs of
various shapes. They provide good strength to stairs.
