Three Dimensional realities

Dimensions of religion
Three levels of servitude

Islam (Submission)

Iman ( Faith)

Ihsan ( Doing what is beautiful)

Meaning of Islam and Muslim

Islam literally means: peace,

surrender or submission
Technically Islam means a way of
submission to the will of God to
attain eternal peace.

Muslim:

The person who surrenders

unconditionally and completely to
the Will of Allah

Islam (Submission)

"Islam is that you should testify

that there is no deity save Allah
and
that
Muhammad
is
His
Messenger,
that
you
should
perform salah (ritual prayer), pay
the zakah, fast during Ramadan,
and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to
the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah),
if you can find a way to it (or find
the means for making the journey
to it)." Said he (the man), "You
have spoken the truth."

Here actually the Messenger of Allah

has mentioned the five pillars of Islam in
order to clarify the actual and practical
aspect of the Divine Religion. Which are:
First Shahadah
5 times daily prayers
Fasting during Ramadan
Zakaat
Hajj

Another Hadith Rasool (S.A.W.W)

about Islam

person
asked
Muhammad
(S.A.W.W)what is your opinion if I offer
the obligatory prayers, and fast
during the month of Ramadan and
have made (upon my self) halal what
is halal and made haram what is
haram and do not increase anything
in it, will I enter to the paradise.
Muhammad (S.A.W.W) said, Yes

Another Hadith

Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered

(by Allah) to fight against the people until
they testify that none has the right to be
worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad
is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers
perfectly and give the obligatory charity,
so if they perform that, then they have
saved their lives and property from me
except for Islamic laws and then their
reckoning (accounts) will be done by
Allah."

mn (Faith)

Aqeedah literally means creed, faith

or belief.
Technically it is defined as, A firm
creed on which ones heart is fixed
upon without any doubt, his tongue
makes profession of it and his limbs
execute that what is required by the
creed
There are 6 articles of faith as
mentioned in Hadith-e-Jibrael i-e

Faith in Allah
Faith in the Messengers
Faith in the Revealed Books
Faith in the Angels
Faith in the Last Day
Faith in Al-Qadar(destiny) either
good or bad

Iman according to Quran

THE APOSTLE, and the believers with him, believe in

what has been revealed to him by his Lord and they
all believe in Allah and His angels, and His
revelations, and His apostles, making no distinction
between any of His apostles; and they say: We have
heard, and we pay heed. Grant us Thy forgiveness, O
our Sustainer, for with Thee is all journeys' end!
(2:285)

In another verses Allah Almighty says,

And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee,

and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have
the assurance of the Hereafter (Al-Baqarah:4)
It is revealed about taqdir in the Holy Quran hat:

No affliction befalls either on the earth, or in

yourselves, except that it is (written) in a book
before we created it. that is easy for Allah; so that
you will not be saddened for whatever does not
come to you, nor be overjoyed in what has come to
you. Allah does not love those who are proud and
boastful (Al-Hadid:22,23)
These verses clearly show that it is compulsory to have a strong belief
in all above mentioned articles of faith without any doubt in order to
become a believer of the true religion i-e Islam.

Faith in Angels :
Muslims must believe in angels, who are
also a creation of Allah Almighty. They are
created of light and they are not given the
choice of exercising free-will. So they can
not fail to obey any order of their Lord. A
Believer must also know that angles are
neither helpers and nor off springs of Allah
Almighty, rather there are mere a creation
and they are caring on their duties
devotedly that are assigned to them by
their Creator.

Faith in Al-Qadar (fate)

It means that Allah the most Aware has

absolute knowledge of each and every
thing that has and that will happen.
Allah
Knowledge
encompasses
everything within and beyond time and
space, that is why every thing is written
in the Lawh-e-Mahfooz. At the same
time man is given Free-Will, according
to which he can act through out his life
span and he will be held accountable for
his deeds.

Al-Qadar
Good and Evil in the sense of blessing
and misfortune are from Allah.
Whenever one receives a blessing one
should be thankful to Allah and when
one faces any trouble, one should face
it
patiently
and
seek
Allahs
forgiveness for his sins. The troubles
of life are some times a test to
measure a believers steadfastness
and sometimes to show wrath of his
Lord to make him God-fearing.

Ihsn (Doing what is beautiful)

Literally Ihsan is derived from root word

Husn which means beauty and thus
Ihsan means doing what is good and
beautiful.
More comprehensively it means to
perform an action in the best of ways,
with all the required rules and regulations.
According to hadith-e-Jibrael Ihsan
means to worship God as if you see Him,
for He sees you even if you do not see
Him.

Ihsan while worshiping Allah can be

exercised by following all the external
norms
and
rules
of
worship
commanded
by
Him
and
His
Messenger as well as by observing
qualities of devotion and sincerity
during the acts of worship. The
Messenger of Allah said.
Surely actions are judged by the
intentions.
And it comes in the Holy Quran that:
And Allah knows what is in your
hearts; and Allah is Knowing,

It shows that inner devotion is very important for

acceptance of the actions and there should be no
aim of worship other than seeking Allahs Pleasure.
Any kind of show-off and ostentation would lead to
displeasure of Allah and it will result in rejection of
the action. One can achieve this level if he starts
feeling the presence of His Lord in front of him and
when he adopts the habit of self-accountability.
Types of Actions:
Whatever actions a man performs may fall into any
of these three categories:

Dealings
worships

Moral
Laws

Worships:

Worship or Ibaddah means

servitude
and adoration while Abd is a
noun that means servant or bondsman. In
Islam actions of worship are to show the
grandeur of the Lord and humility of the servant.
These are source of establishing direct relation
between the Creator and the creation. Some
obligatory acts of worship are offering prayers,
observing fasts, paying Zakaat and doing
pilgrimage (Hajj). Allah (S.W.T) says in the Holy
Quran:
"Verily! I am Allah! none has the right to be
worshipped but I, so worship Me, and establish
As-Salaat for My Remembrance. (20: 14)
On the other hand each and every action of a
believer can become an act of worship if that
action is performed in accordance with the

Dealings
Dealings:

Dealings or Muamlaat are the actions

that are related to the mutual treatment of the
people with each other. Islam stresses on the need of
observing kindness, patience, honesty, equity, and
humbleness while dealing with other human beings in
order to create a peaceful and friendly social
environment. It is ordered in the Holy Quran that:
And serve Allah. Ascribe nothing unto Him. (Show)
Kindness unto parents, and orphans, and the needy
and unto the neighbour who is of kin (unto you) and
the neighbour who is not of Kin and the fellow
traveller and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom
your right hand possess. Lo! Allah loves not such as
are proud and boastful. (2:36)

Moral laws:

Moral laws or Akhlaqiat are the

rules and norms that deal with the uplift of mans
personal character . These help him to learn and
strengthen
the
qualities
of
truthfulness,
righteousness, fairness and humbleness etc in
himself in order to become a socially responsible
person.
Regarding morality the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W.W) said:
"I have been sent to perfect the morals".
There comes in the Holy Quran;
And the servants of the Beneficent Allah are
they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and
when the ignorant address them, they say:
Peace.

Conclusion
Islam is way of leading a peaceful and
prosperous life in this world and to be blissful life
Here-after. It can only become possible when the
followers of Islam will devotedly start practicing
the golden rules of life told in the Holy Quran and
the sunnah of the beloved Messenger of Allah
(S.A.W.W).as it comes in the Holy Quran:
Oh believers! Enter to the fold of Islam
completely and follow not the footsteps of Satan,
for he is an open enemy to you.
It is clear that Islam does not mean mere
proclamation of articles of faith but it strictly
demands also the practical implementation of
those laws that confirm the faith, so Islam is
Islam =Faith + Action
