Thesubjectof a sentence is a person or thing


that performs the action of the verb.
Subject pronoun are used to replace the subject
(person or thing) of a verb.

The Object pronoun acts as the object of a

sentenceit receives the action of the


verb.

A reflexive pronoun refers back to the subject


of a sentence.
The reflexive pronouns areherself, himself,
itself, myself, ourselves,
themselves,andyourselves.

PRONOUN

Possessive Pronoun indicates close possession or


ownership or relationship of a thing/person to
another thing/person.
Possessive pronoun is used instead (in place of) a
noun.
e.g.yours, mine, his, hers, ours, theirs, hers.

PRONOUN

Possessive adjective modifies noun in terms of


possession.
possessive adjective is used (with noun) to
modify the noun.

VERB

A word that shows action


A physical action (e.g.,to swim,to write,to
climb).
A mental action (e.g.,to think,to guess,to
consider).

thing helps to make something
happen.

A state of being (e.g.,to be,to exist,to


appear).

Modal verbs are used to express


ideas such as ability, possibility,
intention or necessity.

Transitive Verb
A verb which needs to have object in sentence is called
transitive verb.
Intransitive Verb
A verb which does not need to have object in sentence is
called intransitive.

ADVERB

Modify a verb, adjective by telling how,


when ,where or how much.
The commonest way to form an adverb is to add the
letters ly to the adjective.

ADJECTIVE a noun & pronoun by

PREPOSITION

Preposition Is alwaysused before a noun or


pronoun.
shows the relation of the noun or pronoun to the other words in sentence.
Preposition describes the relationship between caterpillar & this apple.

CONJUNCTION

Conjunction is a word that connects words,


phrases, clauses or sentences.
Some conjunctions are used in pairs, like this...

Neither....nor
Both....and
Between....and
Though....yet
Whether....or
Not only .... but also

INTERJECTION

Interjections are short words which show strong


feeling or emotions.
