GREEN BUILDING
Infosys now have 12 LEED Platinumrated buildings.
Awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environment

Design (LEED) India Platinum rating by the Indian Green

Building Council (IGBC).
Two buildings with the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat
Assessment
(GRIHA) 5-star rating covering a total of about 3.8 million

Light fixtures with occupancy sensors: Replaced T5 lamps with LED fixtures having inbuilt occupancy sensors

at Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram campuses

The sensors (passive PIR) detect movements and accordingly alter the

lightning levels or switch off the lights.

Heat Pumps: Uses heat energy from air to heat water and generate cold air as by

product.
Hot water is used in washers and driers in the laundry replacing the
use of diesel.
Heat pumps have also replaced Solar hot water system and food
courts for generating hot water for dish washing purpose across
different campuses.
Also uses the cold air rejected to cool the laundry area.

Smart water metering
Smart water meters to enable online monitoring of water consumption

and avoid
Leakages , wastage and opportunities for reduction.
Monitors water consumption in real time.

Science & Technology

Regulating water consumption
Installed more than 25K pressure compensating aerators (PCA) in

water faucets in 2015.

PCAs provide a constant flow rate of 0.5 gpm through variable

pressure situations, optimizing water use to a great extent.

Rainwater Harvesting
42% of freshwater requirements of Company in

new building was met using rainwater harvested in

the monsoon months
In total, 67 deep-well injection systems have been

built for groundwater recharge across different

campuses in India

Free cooling from DG exhaust heat
Infosys campuses are equipped with 100 per cent power back-up through diesel

generator which Diesel Generator sets, when in continuous operation, let out a lot of
waste heat in form of flue gases.
The company deployed innovative technology like vapor absorption cooling technology,

which generates cooling from waste heat.

On an average it generates about 1600 ton hour of free cooling per day from vapor

absorption and reduce electric demand from regular chillers.

Harnessing Solar Energy
Company facility has installed solar

photovoltaic (PV) systems on the rooftop

of one of the buildings in Bengaluru to
harvest solar energy.
This plant is expected to meet over 10% of

the total electricity demand of this

building.
Successfully installed 2.3 MW of solar

Photovoltaic (PV) plants across our

campuses in India

Green Technology Innovation
Infosys has the first commercial radiant

cooling building in India.

Radiant cooling uses water as compared

to Conventional air conditioning which

uses Air to cool.
Through high-quality engineering,

company facility developed Radiflux

panels in-house, which use chilled water
for cooling.
These panels are two times more efficient

than other products available in the

market, less than half the cost, and take
50% less time for installation. They are
also much more efficient, flexible and
easily replicable..
