A study on HDFC bank with regard to
Education loan

INTRODUCTION

The Housing Development Finance


Corporation Limited (HDFC) was the first
bank to receive an 'in principle' approval
from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set
up a bank in the private sector. The bank
was incorporated in August 1994 in the
name of 'HDFC Bank Pvt. Limited', with its
registered office in Mumbai, India.

Capital Structure
As on 31st March, 2015 the authorized
share capital of HDFC Bank is Rs. 550 crore.
The paid-up capital as on the said date is
Rs. 425,38,41,090/- ( 42,53,84,109 equity
shares of Rs 10/- each) and the Bank has
about 5,48,774 shareholders.
The shares are listed on the Bombay Stock
Exchange and The National Stock Exchange
of India

education loan.
To know about the position of HDFC
bank in market.
To analyze the practical knowledge in
the bank.
To get knowledge about the banking
sector.

Features and Benefits offered by


HDFC Bank

The maximum amount of loan granted for education


in India is Rs.10 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs for education
in abroad. The rate of interest offered is attractive.

Repayment of loan commences either one year after


the course ends or six months after one gets a job. It
depends on which one is earlier to the other.

Candidates may also fill and submit the online


application form. The representatives of the bank get
in touch with the applicants as soon as possible.

collateral security
In case of education loan above Rs. 7 lakh,
collateral security is required
Maximum repayment tenure is upto 15 years
Repayment starts 1 year after course
completion / 6 months after obtaining
employment (whichever is earlier)
Loans are available for short duration/ job
oriented courses also.

SWOT analysis
Strengths:
HDFC bank is the largest private sector
bank in India having 2,201 branches and
7,110 ATMs.
HDFC bank is located in 1,174 cities in India
and has more than 800 locations to serve
customers through Telephone banking.
HDFC bank offer high degree of customer
satisfaction when compared to other private
banks.

Weakness:
HDFC bank doesnt have strong presence in
Rural areas, where as ICICI bank is its direct
competitor is expanding in rural market.
HDFC bank cannot enjoy first mover
advantage in rural areas. Rural people are
hard core loyal in terms of banking services.
The share prices of HDFC are often
fluctuating causing uncertainty for the
investors

Opportunities:
HDFC bank has better asset quality
parameters over government banks, hence
the profit growth is likely to increase.

HDFC has very good opportunities in abroad.

HDFC bank has improved its bad debts


portfolio and the recovery of bad debts are
high when compared to government banks.

Threats:
The HDFC is not able to expand its market
share as ICICI imposes major threat.

The government banks are trying to


modernize to compete with private banks

In the survey I find they have knowledge about education loan only 75% respondents are
says he have education loan and 25% respondents are says he not have education loan.

In the survey I find more than 30 have SBI education loan and
rest more 25% HDFC and 20% have icici

from company agent and just only 20% person has loan from other

In the survey I asked the question from 100 respondents and just only
60% respondents want to education loan for further study and 40%
customer cant give me response.

In the survey, I found that 40% respondents are salaried who take
education loan and 10 % are retired respondents.

Findings
There is a healthy relationship between
employees and organisation
There is a proper facility for providing
training in organisation
There is a recruitment policy in organisation
which helps in acheiving objectives
The organisation provides training to more
than fifteen employees in a year

CONCLUSION

I have Concluded that HDFC bank is providing


attractive rate of interest on education loan

It is offering good rate of interest as compared to other


private sector banks

Its assets quality parameter is high


Employee turnover ratio is low
It is offering good incentives to employees


LIMITATIONS

The most of persons gave no response to


me they said "Sorry" I am busy.
The most persons gave no response to me
and they said I have no time.
The most persons gave no response to me
and they said call back me next day or
some other day.
Some persons became angry and furious
when I try to ask different things to them.
It was summer season at visit time.

RECOMMENDATIONS

HDFC bank has to improve its brand image, i.e.,


it has to position itself in the minds of prospects
in a better way in comparison to others. Further
it has to provide a good environment and good
interest rate for education loan.

It should give more emphasize in advertising as


it the most powerful tool to position any brand in
the mindsets of customers. There is also a need
to modify the services and benefits provide by
the bank to its customers and employees.
