The Factories Act, 1948

 The Factories Act is a social legislation which


has been enacted for occupational safety,
health and welfare of workers at work places.
This legislation is being enforced by technical
officers

OBJECTIVES
 To regulate conditions of work in manufacturing
establishments

 To ensure adequate safety, sanitation, health,


working hours, leave with wages and weekly
holiday for workers employed in factories

 It is a protective legislation protecting employees


from exploitation by employers

 The act regulates employment of women and


young persons in factories

Approval, license and registration

the requirement of this act

 Every employer should obtain previous


permission of the state government for the
site on which a factory is to be situated and
for the construction and extension of the
factory

after can start construction or extension

 If state government refuses the application


then within 30 days applicant further plea to
