Background

 1957 -Administrative Staff College of India


(Hyderabad) with the technical assistance of the
Administrative Staff College, Henley started to
offer management development programmes for
senior managers and government officials.
 Around the same time, the question of bringing
management as an academic discipline within the
higher education system was also examined by
another Special Committee set up in 1951-52 by
the AICTE.

 In 1961-62, the Government of India


decided to establish two autonomous
institutions outside the university
system, viz., (IIMs) one at Calcutta
(1961) and the other at Ahmedabad
(1962) to offer two-year full-time
postgraduate diploma in business
administration.

Limitations

 The sample size of 60 might not represent the


perception of whole population, as the sample
size is too small.
 The opinion expressed by the respondents may
be biased.
 The attitude of the research might be biased.
 One of the most influencing and most critical
limitations is that we are not trained for the
research study. We tried hard to come at
conclusion, but there is lack of expertise

 The suburban District Consumer Disputes’
Redressal Forum has ordered the (NMIMS) to
pay Rs 50,000 to its executive MBA.
 The institute changed the level of course
from degree to diploma after admission.

 The forum directed NMIMS to pay Rs 50,000 as


compensation and Rs 5,000 as legal charges to
Gajanan Patil.
 According to Patil, he took admission to NMIMS’
executive MBA course in April 2004 after reading
the prospectus and paid Rs 96,100 in fees.
 Classes continued throughout the week.
 Even the library remained shut on Sunday, and
no project was assigned to me as there was no
guide.

 NMIMS did not have a UGC approval for this course
 Patil decided to give up the course in mid-2005
and filed a complaint against the institute, alleging
deficiency in service.
 He also demanded Rs 1.2 lakh as compensation for
harassment, travel cost and loss of promotion
because of non-completion of course.
 The district consumer forum observed that NMIMS
had cheated students by starting a course for
which it had no approval.
 The forum rejected Patil’s claim for Rs 1.2 lakh as
compensation, but directed NMIMS to pay him Rs
50,000 and return his fee amount
