INTRODUCTION
This project focuses on an electronic toll collection

(ETC) system using Radio frequency identification.

(RFID) technology. The RFID system uses tags,
through which information embedded on the tags
are read by RFID readers, The proposed system
eliminates the need for motorists and toll
authorities to manually perform ticket payments
and toll fee collections, respectively. Thus it is a
more efficient toll collection by reducing traffic
and eliminating possible human errors.
This system allows the vehicle drivers to pass the
toll tax booths without stopping at the toll booths.
The toll amount is deducted from the RFID card.
This RFID card is rechargeable and account is

CRYSTAL
OSCILLATOR
Oscillator circuit is

used to provide the

necessary clock cycle
that is required to
processed the
instruction.
There are 2 types of
oscillator that are
mainly used
1) RC Oscillator
2) Crystal Oscillator
We used crystal
oscillator because it
provide high stability
frequency.

VOLTAGE
REGULATOR

1)A voltage
regulator is used
to maintain a
constant voltage
level.
2) In this we
used 12V power
supply.

The Darlington
pair is used to

RFID Reader and RFID

tags
Radio-frequency identification(RFID) is

atechnologyto electronically record the

presence of an object using radio
signals.
To do this, it relies onRFID tags. These
are small transponders(combined radio
receiverandtransmitter)
that
will
transmit identity information over a short
distance, when asked. The other piece to
make use of RFID tags is an RFID tag
reader.

WORKING
RFID tag is punched to the reader module, it

receives, decodes and checks the information

available in its Database or not.
Each Tag ID contains unique numbers.
RFID Card reader reads the unique number from
the RFID cards and sends it to the microcontroller
which is the CPU of the project.
Microcontroller reads the digital input from RFID
reader.
Then it will turn on the buzzer for invalid card and
turn on the motor and open the gate if the card is
valid

FLOW CHART

ADVANTAGES
Makes

traveling more convenient, reduces

travel times especially during festive seasons
when traffic tends to be heavier than normal.
Saves fuel and thus increases fuel economy
Reduces auto emissions
Reduces wait time at toll booths
Increase highway capacity. Processes 250
300% more vehicles per lane, reducing delays
and traffic congestion
Easy mounting, easy to operate ( user
friendly).

APPLICATIONS

This project can be used in Toll

collection plaza on Highway.
Can be used in contrail collection
booths for faster access.

FUTURE SCOPE
We can send this data to a remote location

using mobile or internet.

We can add the module of voice alarm system
to indicate valid or invalid card entry.
