Background of The Study


Ateenager, orteen, is a young person
whoseagefalls within the range from thirteen
through nineteen (1319). They are called
teenagers because theiragenumberends in
"teen". Someone aged 18 or 19 is also
considered a young adult. Usage by ordinary
people varies,
and also varies in different
societies. Most
societies traditionally had a
formal ceremony to
mark the change from
childhood to adulthood.
Duringpuberty,
rapid mental and physical
development
occurs (Wikipedia, 2013).

Secondary school in Malaysia is


considered ashigh school. Students
attend secondary school in the age of 13
and usually graduated on 17 (Wikipedia,
2013).

Statement

of the Problem

Nowadays many teenagers are


involved in
social problem. From this
problem, we want to figure out what are
the cause and effect of social problem to
secondary school students.

Purposes

of the Study

This report is to access the result of a


survey carried out among teenagers in
secondary
school to find out what kind
of social problem they involved. This
survey was
carried out on 100 students
from Sekolah Menengah Teknik Setapak,
Kuala Lumpur.
The students were both
sexes and were
asked.

Objectives

of the Study

To identify the type of social problems


among teenagers.
To determine the cause and effects of
social problems among teenagers.
To recommend a solution to solve social
problems among teenagers.

Research

Questions

The following are the research question


of the study. The question will help us to
figure
out the cause and effect of the
social problem
among teenagers in
secondary school.

Significance

of the Study

Based on the research, we will study the


cause and effect of social problem. As we
recognize the cause and effect of social
problem, we will recommend ways to
overcome the problem.
Scope

of Study

There were 100 respondents of this


research. The respondents of this research
were secondary
students from Sekolah
Menengah Teknik
Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

Definition of Social Problem


Asocial issue(also called asocial
problemor asocial ill) is an issue that
relates to society's perception of people's
personal lives. Different societies have
different perceptions and what may be
"normal" behavior in one society may be a
significant social issue in another society.
(Wikipedia, 2013)

Introduction
This section discusses the methodology of
the research. The main purpose of the
research was to investigate the social
problems
among
secondary
school
students
between the ages of 13 17
year old. To asses
and evaluate the
social problem a set of
questionnaire
were distribute out to collect a sufficient
amount of data.

Research Instruments
To obtain the result of the study, a set of
questionnaires were built to collect the data. Various
type
of questions were asked such as
yes-no,
listing
and
close- ended.
The
questionnaire
consists of different
sections which demographic
questions, type of social
problem, the
factor
influence.

Respondents

of Study

The respondent of the study were a secondary


school
student at Sekolah Teknik Setapak,
Kuala
Lumpur. A
total of 100 questionnaires
were distributed among them. A
total of 100
respondents return the question, which consist
about 60 male students and 40 female students.

Research Procedure

Before the actual data collection period, a pilot


study was
conducted to assess the reliability and
validity of the research
instrument. A total of 5
students were involved in the pilot
study.

Data Analysis
To analyze the data, several variables were taken
into
considerations which are gender, type of
social problem,
factor that attract, and effect.
The data were enter into the
computer using
Microsoft Excel software and the result were
presented through frequency counts and statistical
chart.
