Tesco Direct also have a
feature Click & Collect where it allow customers to pick up
their purchase products whenever it suits them from over
770 stores. So, customers can choose to pick up their

Suggestion: In a my opinion, Tesco did a very well done job in
providing a
platform for the customers to be able stay
connected to Tesco at
anywhere and anytime. Hopefully
Tesco can keep on maintain their website and make sure the
online service availability at 100% for the customers.

Tesco communicate with

employee
Case Study: uses tesco academy online
Analysis: Kineo company work closely with Tesco to build the Tesco
academy onlineRackspace, has provide enterprise level hosting with
full security and extended support and many other common concerns
around open source products when Tesco working together with Kineo
Suggestion: Hence, Tesco should continue partnered with Kineo
because it can provide a scalable, cost effective learning platform for
the Tescos global operations. However, it still lack of video
conferencing function. Through the video conferencing, Tesco staffs
can share presentations, data and media to their other collegue.

Tesco communicate with

supplier
Case Study: uses tesco supplier network
Analysis: The Tesco Supplier Network was build to bring the existing
supplier network Tesco Producer Network and Tesco Knowledge Hub. It
provide information in the form of case studies, webinars, discussion
forums and e-learning modules for the suppliers and producers. Tesco
intention is to gain back the trust from their suppliers by encourage
them to collaborate with each other to discuss about broad range of
issues so, Tesco can spot the issue earlier and act accordingly to solve
the issues.
Suggestion:The Tesco Supplier Network is a good practice platform
prepare by Tesco for their suppliers and producers because it can help
clear the misunderstanding between the retailer and suppliers.
However, it still lack of video conferencing function same as in the
Tesco Academy Online.

Tesco centralized their distributed

network
Case Study: Tesco has signed a 100 million British Pound deal with
British multinational telecommunications company, Cable and Wireless
to build a data and voice network to connect all the Tesco offices
around the globe
Analysis: Tesco wanted to centralise their distributed network into one
centralised network in UK. The purpose of this operation is to
synchronise all the network operation into the same network to
improve the resolution time and reduced network latency. Tesco uses
voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) on the network, which will help to
reduce its voice and data call costs. Tesco also implements the fixed
mobile convergence (FMC) system for their staffs. Tesco also use highdefinition video conferencing technology which provided by Cisco
Systems.
Suggestion: In my point of view, it is worth to invest 100million British
Pound to improve the data and voice network much more because
telecommunication and network is the integral of success of a
company. With proper telecommunication and network, company will

Tesco outsource their DNS to

Neustar
Case Study: Tesco UK was facing huge challenge of migrating their
primary data center to a new facility in year 2008. The UK data
centers not only support the customer facing websites but also
corporate email for their offices around the world. This created large
delay in resolution time when all lookups from countries like India
would go to the UK and back
Analysis: Tesco outsource the DNS to NeuStars UltraDNS because it
provide a solution to seamlessly manage the data centre migration.
Tesco also had to maintain their website availability at 100%. . Initially,
Tesco had plan to maintain their external DNS in-house but it will take
up to two days of downtime. UltraDNS, it can gurantee Five 9s
(Service Level Agreement) SLA which mean 99.999% guaranteed
uptime.
Suggestion: In the near future, if Tesco face any disaster that will
affect the data center, the Traffic Controller services from UltraDNS
can act as a disaster recovery solution. In longer-term, Tesco also can
use the UltraDNS for all their business-to-business and supply chain

combination of digital technology, the internet and traditional

Analysis: Sentrum datacentre uses highly effiecient state-of-the-art
cold aisle cooling with the power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating of
1.2 which is better compare to Tesco existing datacentres with 1.6-2.0
PUE. Sentrum is lot more flexible by offering 30,000 square feet of
