The Tongue on the Day of Judgement

The Sins of the tongue can lead a Muslim to
the hellfire.
Our Backbiting, Slandering, Gossiping,
Swearing, Cursing, and Lying will be told to
Allah by our tongue on the Day of Judgment.
Our Prophet (s) said: "People are not thrown
into the hellfire on their faces or noses except
due to the result of their tongues.
(Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi )

BACKBITING

Backbiting is
something you say
in ones absence in
a manner that he
would be displeased
upon hearing it.
Example: when one
makes fun of a persons
looks in his absence.
Don't forget that Allah made
them the way we are, so
how can we make fun of his
creation?

SLANDERING
If what you say
about someone is
false, then it will
be slandering.
Example: If you tell
people that someone
got an F on a math
test, but he actually got
a B is slandering.

Allah(swt) tells us in the Quran:
"Would any of you like to eat the flesh of
his dead brother? No, you would hate it."
(Ch49: v12)
Those spreading gossip do not enter
Paradise.
The one who spreads gossips will be
tortured in the grave.
One should not even have suspicion of
others, and one should never spy on one
another.

Verification Of The News

Muslims need to verify the news,
since it may cause the spread of
rumors or gossips.
Generally, we should strive to stay
away from tabloid magazines, and
shows that may have gossip.
Also, we should only read/watch
about the news that is important to
us.

How to protect yourself?

1.Before Talking about anyone, ask yourself:
- Would I say it if the person was present?
- Is it useful for anyonetoknow?
- Is it necessary for anyonetoknow?
2. Know that Allah is The All-Seeing, All-Hearing, and
All-Knowing. Do not forget you will have to have to give
account to Him on the Day of judgment.
3.4.Are you 100% sure about it? Spreading false news
is slander.
4.Look for positive qualities in people. If you really
havetotalk about someone whos not there, talk about
how great they are.
5.Repentand make the intentiontostop.
6. Be mindful of the company you keep. Stay away
from such people who usuallyturn togossip.
7. Make duaatoAllah for help. It will take effort, dont
give up!

Lying
Four traits whoever possesses them is a
hypocrite and whoever possesses some of them
has an element of hypocrisy until he leaves it :

1.The one who when he speaks he lies;

2. when he promises he breaks his promise;
3.when he disputes he transgresses;
4.and when he makes an agreement he
violates it.

Lying is an element of being a hypocrite, so we

should try hard to stay away from becoming liars.

Asking
Forgiveness

"O my servants who have

wronged themselves. Never
despair of the mercy of Allah for
truly he forgives all sins. He is
the Forgiving, the Merciful."
(Ch39v53).
So if you really repent and turn back
to Allah and promise not to commit
the sin again, then truly Allah's

In Conclusion
The ultimate goal for a Muslim is to be admitted
to Paradise. Good speech plays a role in earning
that reward.
"The believers are successful, those who in their
prayer have khushu (fear of Allah) and those who
refrain from vain talk..."
(Qur'an 23:1-3)
Think Before You Speak!!
Islam teaches us that we should be careful of
what we say. By remembering Allah, we will find it
easier to choose our words carefully.
