dissapears and is a subject to
misinterpretation

Effective writing clearly and concisely

recipient
Ineffective writing fails to do this

Write

Writing

Grammar
Literacy, and
Other scholarly skill

Better writing :
Make it simple
Know what you want to say
Keep sentences short,
sentences may
need to have more than three or four words
Write the way you speak
Write for your audience
Use every day language

Most job:
Internal memos
Correspond with clients/colleague, etc

Much of it is pitiful and reduce effectiveness:

Unnecessary
Redundant
Shallow
Capitalization
Punctuation
Grammar
Sentence structure
Organization

HOW TO WRITE
EFFECTIVE TEXT
Step:
1. What do you want to accomplish
2. What does the reader want to accomplish
3. Examine your features and benefits
4. Organizing your thoughts
5. Filling in the blanks
6. Editing yourself
Writing as you speak
Cut it out
Writing doesnt have to be hard

Step 1:
What do you want to accomplish
Write down a list you want to be accomplish:
- be spesific
- be general

Brainstorming:think as many things as you can

Dont stop from putting down an idea
Dont think it might sound stupid
No one needs to see this list except you
Dont edit yet or you may lose some good idea

Step 2:
What does the reader want to accomplish
The reader want to know
what is in it for me not
whats in it for you

Example :
Procedure
Diagnosis

Step 3:
Examine your features and benefits
=what you offer and why its important=
If you wrote, then know why this is important, but
your reader may not, so you explain
Actually work for you and get your points across

Step 4:
Organizing your thoughts
Organize
Solve the mistakes people make concerns
scattered and infocused information
Find the focus that gives your writing a structure
make into heading 1s (major topics) and
heading 2s (sub topics) etc up to
six level

Step 5:
Filling in the blanks
=putting meat on the bones=
Werw creating the structure of your document
(the skeleton)......dont edit, just write
Write as much as you want
The more you write, the more you have to work
with
Might feel the need to change or rearrange the
outline
Rearrange if necessary

Step 6:
Editing yourself
=safe file under new name=
Rewrite, the part that most people hate, because
they think theyve written is perfect
Usually spend a lot of time rewriting
Good idea to give a copy of what youve written to
someone whose writing you admire.(show writing to
someone you respect)
May not agree with notes
Dont lose first draft

Notes:
Look at the day you look them
Put them away
Dont make any changes
Look at the notes again the next day
