What is Spring?
Spring is the season of renewal when
everything begins growing again. The
days become longer with more hours of
daylight and nights become shorter.
The time also changes, this is known as
Spring Forward, where we move our
clocks forward an hour.

What Happens in Spring?


Seeds take root, and begin to grow.
Weather starts to get warmer.

Summer is the hottest season of the
year. During summer the days
continue to be long, and the nights
short, with the longest day of the year

Crops and plants continue to grow.

What is Fall?
Fall, also known as Autumn, is the
season when the temperatures start to
cool. Days start to get shorter and
nights become longer. The time
changes and we move our clocks back
an hour with Fall Back.

When is Fall?
Fall begins on September 21st and
ends on December 21st with the
beginning of winter.

What Happens in Fall?


Plant growth slows down or stops
altogether.
Plants start to lose their green coloring
Trees lose their leaves
Animals start stock piling food and
preparing for the winter.

As the weather cools rain is common, as
well as sleet when the weather gets cool
enough. Near the middle and end of fall
frost and snow also occur.

Winter is the coldest season of the year.
During this season many plants die and
very few continue to grow. Hours of
daylight become even shorter and night
becomes longer, with the shortest day of
the year being December 21st.

What Happens in Winter?


Most plants die or are unable to
grow because of the low
temperatures.
Animals go into hibernation or
migrate south to warmer climates.
Temperatures drop.

What Kind of Weather is There in Winter?


In winter there is snow and sleet is
common too. In extreme circumstances
winter can also mean severe storms and
deadly cold waves with temperatures
reaching 40 degrees below zero
