Introduction
University faculty and staffs play a special role in the life of the
government, has been experiencing problems not only with the facilities and
student related concerns but also concern for its employees. Some of the
faculties have to travel long distances in order to get to PUP but werent given
enough salary for their expenses and bills. Due this, a provision for a housing
development that will cater their needs for comfortable living adjacent to their
The proposed development aims to support PUP employees through staff housing
that evokes the concept of harmony thru variety, that whether residents have varying
social, marital and economical status, the main highlight will still stress on community
interactivity and social sensitive planning showcasing the uniqueness of living of
different status in life of PUP staff.
To try to promote equality of varying status thru proper zoning of units and
providing unique spaces that evokes the characteristics of each variety. Additionally,
neighborhood interactivity will still be fostered thru common spaces that will try to
unify all the residents indulging them to social interaction and activities especially
in resting days where relaxation amid busy days are needed for rejuvenation.

Design Application
Disaster-Resiliency
Seismic design according to structural engineering books suggest flexible connection and
lightweight framing for they sway with the seismic direction rather than fighting it therefore
avoiding great loads and magnitudes caused by the movement.
Flood Prevention
Adding elevation to the first floor via raised structural columns is the buildings method of
keeping the building flood-free against high flood elevation.
Time Concept
The general architectural character of the building which strives
of being simple yet functional and is provided in response to the
Filipinos trait, climate, merged into modern structural method
speaks of everything that is Filipino which have the characters of
being innovative, adaptive to any situations and are simple in their
own way of living yet strive to improve in life. That
is the core design principle of the project, being our own
Modern Philippine Architecture that will last a lifetime because it
is speaks much about the Philippine as a whole.
Economy Concept
Designing the development and the structures of the project in a clear vision of sustainable and environmentalfriendly goal in the early conception makes the economic viability possible. This can be done Prefabrication which is a
cost-effective method which helps in the speed of construction due to direct installation and connections rather than
the conventional reinforced concrete method which takes a lot of time and therefore additional cost for the labor, and
completion in general. Maximizing the land area by proposing 12 floors apartments is one of the factors that is
initially conceived in order to provide adequate housing units to PUP staff.
