ENERGY HARVESTING SYSTEM

How can we harvest waste energy?

Different types of waste energy can be
captured using different Energy Harvesting
materials.
Vibration, movement and sound can be
captured and transformed into electrical
power using piezoelectric materials

Heat can be captured and transformed into

electrical power.

Millions of commuters in Tokyo station

More than 2.4 million people pass
through on an average week day.
Passengers treading on Sound
power Corp.'s 'Power Generation Floor.
Thousands of people are stepping
or jumping on them, then we can
generate significant amounts of power.
An average person, weighing 60 kg,
will generate only 0.1 watt in the single
second required to take two steps
across the tile.

WORKING PROCESS OF THE SYSTEM

When Foot-force is applied on piezoelectric crystals or

mats, the sensor transmits special-signals which then
converted to electrical energy, used to drive DC loads.
Minute voltage Which is stored in the Lead Acid
battery and that battery is connected to a inverter.
This inverter is used to convert the D.C to the A.C.

This A.C voltage is used to activate the loads.

We are also using back-up conventional battery
charging unit for giving supply to the circuitry if there is
any faulty in the piezoelectric sensors.

ENERGY HARVESTING SYSTEM

In order to utilize this physical principle to

make a sensor to measure force, we must be
able to measure the surface charge on the
crystal.
Figure shows a common method of using a
piezoelectric crystal to make a force sensor.
Two metal plates are used to sandwich the
crystal making a capacitor.
An external force cause a deformation of the
crystal results in a charge which is a function of
the applied force.
In its operating region, a greater force will
result in more surface charge.
