Wish (ojal me gustara) is used to talk of situations in present , situations already past

and situations we want to change.

Now some rules:
Situations in present
subject + wish + subject + verb in past simple

I wish I could swim ojala supiera nadar

I wish I knew the answer ojala supiera la respuesta

Tips

wishes is used when the subject is he or she.

He wishes he were famous ojala el fuera famoso

were is used for all the subjects

I wish I were famous ojala fuera famoso


Situations already past

subject + wish + subject + verb in past perfect

I wish I had passed all my exams ojala hubiera aprobado todos mis examines

I wish I had been able to buy tickets for that concert
ojala hubiera podido comprar entradas para aquel concierto

Situations we want to change

wish can be used in phrases to express a situation we want to change in
present

subject + wish + subject + would/wouldnt + verb in infinitive

I wish the neighbours would stop making so much noise
ojala los vecinos dejen de hacer tanto ruido

I wish you wouldnt leave your room so untidy
ojala no dejes tu habitacin tan desordenada

I wish it would stop snowing ojala deje de nevar
