Slogan- Passion Towards Dreams Boon Siew was born in Hui-An, Fujian province of China. His fathers name and his siblings cannot be found because of the lack of information on his early life. Loh Boon Siew had virtually no formal education. He could only speak Hokkien. During his childhood, he used to collect ping dung(then used as fuel) to make living. At the 12, he arrived in Penang on a small boat from China with five friends. Upon arriving in Penang, he worked as an apprentice car mechanic. He earns three dollar monthly. He also washed busses at night for 10 cents per vehicle to increase his income.
At the age of 18, Boon Siew purchased 11 buses using his $2,000 in savings. He reconditioned the buses and sold them for $12,000. Next, he used the money he earned to buy another 39 buses. After World War II, Boon Siew started to sell bicycle, tires and motorcycle accessories. Later he expanded his business to used cars and busses.
After that he got himself into property development with his friends. They built the residential villas in Taman Saw Kit in Penang. His work is continued by his Boon Siew Group. Company name BOON SIEW HONDA Location Pitt Street in Penang
The first Malaysia Honda showroom was set Pitt Street in Penang. Later a company was built in Penang to assemble the Honda Cub and the Honda motorcycle assembled in Malaysia was renamed the Boon Siew Honda. Boon Siew brought Honda poducts to Malysia because in the 1958, Boon Siew noticed the popularity of the Honda Super Cub motorbike which had been just introduced in Japan. He believed that this low-cost, high-efficiency machine would find a similarly receptive market in the rapidly urbanizing areas of Malaysia. Boon Siew arranged to meet with Mr. Soichiro Honda, the bike's creator, and quickly convinced him to set up a Honda subsidiary in Malaysia. Loh Boon Siew and Mr. Soichiro Honda worked together to expand the Honda company to Malaysia. The first Malaysian Honda showroom was set up on Pitt Street in Penang and got a very warm welcome. Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and Oriental Holdings Bhd, began operations in September 2008. The Japanese Honda Motor Co Ltd soon appointed Boon Siew the sole distributor for Honda motorbikes in the country The Honda Cub became the best selling motorcycle in Malaysia and Boon Siew was recognised as the first person to bring the Honda Cub motorcycles into Southeast Asia.

Starting from the time this company was formed until today, the products are getting better. There are no turning back. Their engineering skill are at the highest level which is their most important skill that enable them to manufacture bikes with excellent precision. The services this company provides is still the same as when this company formed. They produce bikes that meet beyond the customers expectation.
When the company was first introduced in Malaysia, the company went through high competition with the Yamaha Sdn.Bhd company. There were also competition from other companies such as Modenas, Suzuki, Kawasi and many more. But Honda bikes got the warmest welcome from the customers and went on being the most favorite bikes in Malaysia since then,
Honda bikes became the favorite bike in Malaysia because of the price, specification and the riding comfort The company used good strategies to impress the customers by manufacturing bikes which are more cheaper and simpler. They produced bikes which cost lower than the Yamaha bikes. They also provided customer support system which always gives their customers help and guide for any problems regarding the bikes. Today Boon Siew Honda bikes became the leading bike seller in Malaysia.
Boon Siew had many problems in making this company a success. He faced many obstacle in making the companys foundation and in expanding the company. He was lack of money to starting the company especially buying the land, building the company building and in purchasing the machines to manufacture the bikes. The main Honda company helped him in the financial matters to enable him run the company. He also borrowed money from his friend to cover his financial problems. Currently Boon Siew Honda Sdn.Bhd is run by the Chairman, Dato Loh Cheng Yean and the MD/CEO, Satoshi Okada. Boon Siew Honda Sdn.Bhd is a corporation company. Boon Siew family owns 38% of the overall stock of the company. The company has many other individual stockholders. The late Loh Boon Siews family has the most power in the company with being the sole stockholder possessing more than 15%.
The company is going to have future product such as producing long-range travelling bike and more economical bikes. Boon Siew Honda Sdn.Bhd has a foundation to serve the community. It provides scholarship to students for further studies in universities. The company usually gives money as donation to the needy persons. An annual meeting will be conducted for the community services.
As a conclusion, we do think that the Late Loh Boon Siew was a very successful businessman with a great history. He built an motor bike base in the south east Asia and proved to be the leading bike company until today. He also did many charity works and helped a lot of needy peoples.
