PARTS OF SPEECH-POS :
Nouns
Verbs
Adjectives
LATIN FUNDAMENTALS
Part of Speech is the first concept that we need to learn.
Whenever we speak or write or think, we use the POS- Parts of Speech
There are eight parts of speech: he verb, the noun, the pronoun, the
adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection.
Although these eight POS are equally as important, we will just start the
three main ones: the verb, the noun and the adjective.
Nouns are the words used to name a person, animal, place, thing and
abstract idea. Nouns also have to role of the Subject or the Object in the
sentence.
The girl reads a good story. In this sentence we have two nouns: the girl
and a story.
The girl is a subject and the story the object, because it is the girl
that reads the book and not the other way around.
NOUNS
Verbs are the words that express action, movement, or states of being. They usually
help us understand what the subject is up to.
The girl reads a green book. Here we recognize that the word reads is the verb,
because it explains the state and the activity of the subject (the girl).
VERBS
ADJECTIVES
The last part of speech that we will discuss in the first lesson are adjectives.
Adjectives modify or affect the noun by describing the noun.
Lets look at our example:

The girl reads a good story. You guessed it! The adjective here is the word
good. As we already mentioned, the noun that is being modified is story. The
reason why we say that the noun is modified is because we now know that it
is not any story that is being read, we know that the story being read is the
good one. Thus, by adding an information through the use of adjective, the
noun is modified.
