LESSON OVERVIEW
Yesterday, we continued to practice
area and perimeter using toothpicks
and tiles. Today we will begin to learn
about ratios.
RATIOS BASICS
In math, a ratio is a relationship or comparison
between two numbers or two things. This is
expressed as (for example) a to b OR a:b.

For example: There are 3 green circles and 4
orange circles on the right. The ratio of green
circles to orange circles is 3 to 4.
Ratios can be written in 3 ways. We can write:
3 to 4 or
3:4 or
