STR Mechanical
Benefits of our energy focused HVAC
maintenance services
• Reduced operating costs – The maintenance services that we provide have been
proven to save our customer 15-30% off of their annual HVAC operating costs. We
attribute these savings to our attention to maintenance details. Whether it is
installing higher MERV rated air filters with lower initial resistances, or installing
notched belts (vs. smooth belts) in your equipment, rest assured STR implements the
most energy friendly maintenance procedures in our industry today.

• Extending equipment life – As a result of our rigorous maintenance programs, the

equipment that we provide maintenance on without question outlast the estimated
15 year life span ASHRAE says you should expect. The installation of mechanical
equipment is a large capital expense and we guarantee no one else is positioned like
STR Mechanical to protect your investment!

• Priority Service Response – When you have an emergency we treat it like one, every
time. Industry standard is “supposedly” a 4 hour response time, STR guarantees a 2
hour response time, regardless of the time or season.

• Designated Technician(s) – Another benefit that sets us apart from the competition.
Our customers benefit from seeing the same technician(s) each and every service
visit. The purpose I history of your mechanical equipment. We realize your time is
valuable and you should not be responsible for showing a different technician around
for each visit.

Air Filters: Choosing the right air filter
and media
Your air filters control a majority of an HVAC systems energy consumption
thus a majority of its operating cost. You should look to the filters as a
method to control energy.
In addition to the operating costs, consider the following:

• Total costs to the U.S. economy because of poor IAQ reach as high as $168 billion per
year. Some of the airborne triggers for these illnesses include microorganisms; particles
such as dust and smoke; volatile organic compounds; and allergens.

 Ideally, these triggers are eliminated or reduced significantly by the air filters in a
building's HVAC system.

• The average human breathes in about 16,000 qt of air/day, which contain about 70,000
visible and invisible particles, each day. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
notes that indoor air often is two to five times more polluted than outdoor air.
FILTER RATINGS : WHICH ONE IS BEST FOR YOUR
EQUIPMENT?
MERV: Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value

*Note: a 10 mm gap (less than ¼ of an inch) between your filters can lower your MERV rating on
your filters by at least 2 levels. – National Air Filtration Association.
