PROJECTS THAT HAS A

BIG IMPACT IN OUR
ENVIRONMENT
1.MINING
-Extraction of Valuable minerals
or other geological materials
from the earth.
Impacts of Mining

1.Vegetation and defacing of
land
2.Subsidence of land
3.Groundwater contamination
4.Surface water pollution and Air
pollution.
5.Noise Disturbance
2.GOLFCOURSE
Impacts of Golfcorse

1.Potential conflict with wetlands
and endangered species
2.Used of those toxic materials to
maintain the grasses on
fairways and greens
3.Too much water consumption
4,Loss of diversity
5.Leads to an increased in road
traffic
3.ROADS AND BRIDGES
CONSTRUCTION
Impacts

1.Air pollution
2.Habitat fragmentation
3.Climate change
4.Noise disturbance
4.FORESTRY PRODUCTS
Impacts

1.Species loss due to hunting
2.Vulnerable to earthquakes
3.Habitat fragmentation
4.Increased suspended sediment
load to surface water.
5.SMELTING PLANT
Impacts

1.Discharge of chemicals amd other
waste to surface water
2.Emission of sulfur dioxide and
heavy metals
3. Increased demand for electrical
power
6.MAJOR PLANTS
Impacts

1.Create spent nuclear fuel at the
rector site.
2.Produces tailings at uranium mines
and mills
3.Can released small amounts of
radioactive isotopes
4.Can release large quantities of
dangerous radioactive materials
OVERVIEW OF ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT ASSESSMENT SYSTEM
Evironmentally Critical Projects are
projects or industries that have critical
environmental impacts and therefore need
to undergo Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA)System and (EIS) prior
to implementation.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
ASSESSMENT(EIA)SYSTEM
Proclaims certain areas and types of projects as environmentally
critical & w/in this scope EIA established under presidential decree
no.1586.

DEFINITION
EIA SYSTEM-is a systematic process to identify ,predict and evaluate the
environmental effects of proposed projects in order to aid decision making
reagarding the significant environmental consequences of projects
developments and programmes.

PURPOSE:
To identify the environmental issues and highlight those issues for consideration
and incorporation by the decision makers vested with legal authority and technical
skills such as land used planning, water resources management, forestry, fisheries
and geosciences share on the task of supervising and addressing environment
concerns.

Environmental Impact
Statement(EIS)System
The emphasis ,compared with many other mechanism for
environmental protection is on PREVENTION.
>The process of predicting the likely
environmental consequences of
implementing a project and
designing appropriate preventive
mitigating and enhancement
measures as an
input to decision making
