Some Dos & Donts

DO,s & DONTs
Regular Disk Cleaning : With the introduction
of new strategy for CDR files(ncbr & tgbr)
dumping in IOP & putting all SUBs on Local Blg
as required for CDR based billing system in
BSNL network, disk space will be consumed
faster as compared to earlier releases. So
regular disk cleaning becomes a must
activity in all the C-DOT exchanges having S/W
2219 .For this following should be done :

Every fortnight ( 1
st
& 16
th
of each month )
following File Groups should be deleted
a) <del-fgp-file : , bc { From date-> To date};
--- After taking back-up

b) <del-fgp-file :, tg { From date -> To date};
--- After taking back-up
* Note: Keep maximum 2 months BC &
TG data in the IOP disk.

c) <del-fgp-file : , tf { From date -> To date};
--- Take backup if required
* Note: Keep maximum 15 days TF
data in the IOP disk.
d) <del-fgp-file : , ioh;
--- No backup required
e) Run utility cre-space after verifying
DISPL-OOD-LOG if required,as this will
null all the files of oodlogDD in $TOOLP
directory.

ED & BD Backups : Take daily backups
of ED & BD as per normal maintenace
activity. Also preserve one weekly backup
for ED
.

Keep Watch on Error messages on IOP
Console : Do not overlook any abnormal error
messages coming on IOP console terminal
whether coming of its own or during any data
creation/modification. At such times ,it is better to
bring SBY IOP to warm-start & keep all the
previous days ED backups safe. Do not take
back-up on previous days backup cartridges
until some action has been taken to clear the
error messages. Always contact C-DOT Control
room for this.
DO,s & DONTs
Re-setting the IOP : Never press reset switch
of IOP,before bringing it to Cold-start level. In
case Console Terminal is not accepting any
command ,
shift cable to ASIO-2 / ASIO-4 port .Login
into admn & give <init-iop:2,1; & <init-iop:1,1;
from this terminal.IOP will start going to cold-
start but no messages will be shown.

Shift the cable to Console & if console-
login appears, login into root account
.Give <# init 2 to bring IOP to warm-
start.
In case console-login does not
appear,then hard reset will be
required.Wait for 10 minutes & then
press abort switch first & then reset
switch.Boot IOP by bo command to
bring it to warm-start level.

Aborting of data creation / modification
command:
Do not abort any data creation /
modification command by ctrl & \ .
This will corrupt many ED files involved
in the process .Always wait for the
command to get timed out .

In case of False alarms on ADP
regarding Subs lines /Trks, run
Audit Set: 12 on AM once a
week
If Alarms do not appear on ADP
regularly, recreate process

Put fmt-blg-cntr command in
calender,but make sure that format
time has a difference of minimum
15 minutes from the cntr dump
time otherwise frmt file will not
have correct data.Displ-Xchg-mtr
may show ve values.

IOP sync precautions Do not
reverse sync the IOPs ,which
may lead to loss of crucial
backups like POIs TGBR
Take appropriate action if IOP
sync gets aborted in any step
