INTRODUCTION
No activity is possible without energy. Energy is available to us in
forms of fuels and electricity. Energy sources are renewable or
nonrenewable.
Renewable sources of energy are sun , water wind, earth , wood,
biomass etc.
Non renewable sources of energy are coal , petrol , paper , cng , lpg
,wood etc.
Fuels can be solid ,liquid or gases among this one of the most
important source are wind mill.

BLOCK DIAGRAM
WHAT IS WIND MILL ?
A windmill is a machine that converts the energy of wind
into rotational energy by means of vanes called sails.
Originally, windmills were developed for milling grain for
food production. In the course of history, the windmill
machinery was adapted to many other industrial uses. ...
History of Wind Mills
Historically windmills have been used for the grinding of the
grains into flour, for taking out water from wells, and for similar
other applications. Wind energy has been used by man for a very
long time. The earliest recorded practical windmills were said to
be used in Sistan in Afghanistan around 7th to 8th century and
was used for pumping water as well as grinding corn.
Working Principle of Wind Mills
A wind turbine is a machine that coverts wind energy
into electricity. The generators are connected to battery
charging circuits and finally to large utility grids.
In windmills the wind passes through the airfoil section
of the blades and the lift produced generates a torque
which is then transformed to electricity in the generator.
It is basically the conversion of the wind energy into the
mechanical energy of the turbine and then finally to electricity.
As the output of the wind turbine is dependent on the
availability of the winds it is intermittent and undependable.
They can however be used along with conventional generators
in a large grid and can reduce the loads of these generators when
they are generating. The other option is to use storage devices
like batteries and then discharge the electricity uniformly.
Types of Wind Mills
Windmills are able to use the wind, which is a constant
source of natural energy, to create electricity that can power
homes and cities, depending on how many there are and
how big they are.
There are two types of windmills,
horizontal axis turbines
vertical axis turbines.

Vertical axis turbines are rarely found and have blades that
look like an egg beater.

Horizontal axis turbines have blades that look like airplane
propellers, and they work on the same principle. As wind blows into a
windmill, the propeller-like blades slow it down and begin to "catch"
or harness the wind. The wind blowing over these blades creates lift,
which turns the blades, much in the same way as lift helps an airplane
fly.
Hardware Components of the windmills
The rotors consisting of the blades and the hub.
The drive train and gears along with the mechanical brakes.
The brakes are used in the maintenance work and when a storm is
coming.
The generator which generates electricity.
The yaw system which rotates the housing toward the direction
of the wind.
Tower and foundation.
Battery and the electrical system to transmit to the grid.

The working principle is that when the wind passes through the
blades, the blades experience a lift due to the aerodynamic airfoil
shape. Due to the lift produced, the blades move and start
rotating. The yaw unit aligns it towards the incoming wind
direction when the winds change. The rotation of the blades is
transmitted through the gear train and couplings to the generator
that generates electricity. The electricity is then transmitted
through the wires to the storage batteries or directly to the grid.
LIMITATION OF WIND ENERGY
limitation of wind energy although wind energy can be used
for different purposes.
It has an important limitation because it is not available all
the times and at all the places for doing various types of work.
There is no guarantee that we will get wind energy when we
require. It because there is no place in the world where the
wind blows all the time.

ADVANTAGES OF WIND ENERGY

advantages of wind energy wind energy does
not cause any pollution.
it is available free of cost.
the sources of wind energy such that, air is an
inexhaustible and reversible sources.

conclusion
Thus this is a promising technology to provide efficient solution to
power crisis to affordable extent.
This will be the most acceptable means of providing power to the
places that involves difficulties of transmission.
Moreover walking across a power producing platform then will be
a fun for idle people who can improve their health by exercising in
such platforms with earning.
The electrical energy generated at such farms will be useful for
nearby applications

This technology would facilitate the future creation of new
urban landscapes, athletic fields with a spectator area, music
halls, theaters, nightclubs and a large gathering space for
rallies, demonstrations and celebrations, railway stations, bus
stands, subways, airports etc.
like capable of harnessing human locomotion for electricity
generation.
