Introduction to Actix

Actix is a wireless performance engineering solution development firm.
Actix software is used to analyze drive team data to check the RF network
performance. Based on Actix output RF engineers make recommendation
to improve RF condition in network
Actix is a powerful tool for analyzing data. Its graphical user interface
makes it very easy for engineer to analyze events while having both
graphics and layer messages
Actix is used for analyzing data collected by Agilent tool.
Setup Actix
Agilent tool produces files with extension *.AOD, *.AEC and *.AOX; however only *.AOD files must be
loaded in to Actix.
In addition to *.AOD files Actix needs information regarding to the coverage area and sites information
inside the coverage area .

Each big market is divided to several
parts based on UMTS coverage. These
parts are called clusters and can contain
several sites
Cellref file is a text file containing site
information for each market
CingularProject001 is a *.TAB file
contains information for cluster boundary
The first step for analyzing data is to
make sure these files are properly loaded
in Actix
Setup Actix (Continue)
To load a Cellref file click on:
Tools Preferences
In the pop up menu click on File location and then choose the Cellref file
Setup Actix (Continue)
To load cluster boundary file click on Layers on top of map window and in the layer control window choose Add
Setup Actix (Continue)
However to make sure Actix work properly it is recommended
that Cellref file and CingularProject001 should have been
copied into below folders
Cellref:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Actix\Analyzer\Bin\Cellrefs

CingularProject001:
C:\Program Files\Actix\Analyzer\MapFiles
Load file into Actix
Each *.AOD file contains several information. The Kit-1 files has information for Scanner,
MO, MT and HSDPA and Kit2 files has information for EUL and LongMo
MOC
MTC
HSDPA
EUL
LongMO
There are three ways to load data
into Actix:
1. Directly load files and make
SuperStream if necessary
2. Load files into a Repository
3. Load files into a Network Image
Note that each *.AOD file has information for
small part of route and combination of these files
make cluster drive
Load file into Actix (SuperStream)
To directly load file, right
click on Loaded Data Files
and click on open
This option is normally use to
analyze files which have
events
There is a limitation of
approximately 25 log files to
load in Actix. Trying to load
more files may cause software
crash
By restarting Actix all loaded
files are be lost
By using SuperStream,
information of different AOD
files can be merged and
concatenate information in
files together
Load file into Actix (SuperStream)
To make SuperStream Click on:
Tools Create SuperStream
Simply click on UEs which are needed to
be merged
MO information
from two separate
files are chosen to
be merged
Load file into Actix (Repository)
Repository is the fastest way for merging related information in log files. Depending on the template which
was used, data is extracted and merged together. To make a repository, right click on Open Repositories
and then choose create repository
Repository Naming Convention STATE_CITY_CLUSTER#_DATE Ex: TX_Austin_CL01_082209

Choose a
name and
template for
repository
then click on
Create&Open
Load file into Actix (Repository)
After creating repository, right click on repository name choose Load file
Click on Add Files and load *.AOD files
Load file into Actix (Network Image)
Creating Network Image takes longer than repository but unlike repository Network Image is
transferable. It can run on one computer and then transfer to another one. Also It is not
important to load Cellref file and TAB file before running NI
To create NI click on: Naming Convention : NI_State_City_Cluster#_Date
Network Image Create Network Image NI_TX_Austin_CL01_082209
Choose a name
and template for
Network Image
then click on OK
Load file into Actix (Network Image)
To load files into Network Image right click on NI and then choose Batch Load Files. In next window
select *.AOD files and choose Open
