DBS3900 Overview
DBS3900 is a distributed NodeB of forth generation NodeB.
DBS3900 system consists of:
BBU3900(baseband processing unit )
RRU3908 (outdoor remote radio unit)
Antenna and feeder system
RNC/BSC

The BBU3900 can be configured with the following boards:
GSM Timing and Main control Unit (GTMU)
WCDMA Main Processing Transmission unit (WMPT)
WCDMA Baseband Processing unit (WBBP)
Universal Transmission Processing unit (UTRP)

DBS3900 Capacity and Characteristics
In GSM mode, a RRU3908 supports a maximum of six GSM carriers.
In GSM+UMTS dual mode, a RRU3908 supports a maximum of four
GSM carriers and two UMTS carriers or 5 GSM carriers and 1 UMTS
carrier. Capacity of the RRU3908 can be expanded through
cascading of two RRU3908s.
In UMTS mode, a RRU3908 supports a maximum of four UMTS
carriers.
Supporting the GSM, UMTS, LTE and any two mixed modes
through different software configuration. The distributed base
station DBS3900 and cabinet macro base station share the
BBU3900 and RF modules (RRU3908 )

Main Functions
Providing the CPRI interface for communication between the BBU and the
MRRU
Processing uplink and downlink baseband signals and support HSUPA and
HSDPA function
According to the board chip processing capability, WBBP module include seven
specifications. Current WBBP is the A version, called WBBPa.

BBU Module --- GTMU Board
The GSM transmission, timing, and management unit for BBU (GTMU) controls and
manages the entire BTS. It provides interfaces related to the reference clock, power
supply, OM, and external alarm collection.
The GTMU performs the following functions:
Controls, maintains, and operates the BTS
Supports fault management, configuration management, performance
management, and security management
Monitors the fan module and the power supply module
Distributes and manages BTS clock signals
Provides clock input for testing
Provides the Ethernet port for terminal maintenance
Supports four E1 inputs
Provides the CPRI ports for communication with the RRU

The UTRP provides ports for eight E1s/T1s and implements transport such as IP and
ATM between the BBU3900 and the RNC.

UTRP board should add sub board to provide the different interface type
WD22UTRP is the main board name. The UTRP has three sub-boards in current
version
UAEU: Eight ATM over E1s/T1s
UIEU: Eight IP over E1s/T1s
UUAS: One unchannelized ATM over SDH/SONET(STM-1/OC-3) interface
