Course Objective
The objectives of this course are to 1. Introduce students to the concept of control systems and its applications in mechatronics. 2. Expose students to modelling of physical systems and evaluating responses. 3. Familiarize students with control system analyses. 4. Introduce students to design controller for target applications based on specified performances. 5. Familiarize students to the use of software tools for control system analysis and design.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Construct physical and mathematical models of dynamic systems using different modeling techniques. 2. Identify and explain basic control elements and their functionality. 3. Analyze transient and steady state performances and stability of control systems. 4. Design controller/compensator using root locus and frequency response methods according to the desired performances.
