Step 1: Decide on a specific content area.

Step 2: Find out the learning resources relevant to your topic that are available from your school learning resource center. Step 3: Develop a pile of teaching aids (flash cards, pictures, cut-outs transparencies). Step 4: Organize them in a box.

Some learning resources in the resource center seem to be useful for my chosen topic. I also chose several learning resources such as the chalkboards, books, powerpoint presentations, photocopies, pictures and visual aids. I chose these materials because I do believe that in applying these stuffs would make my discussion lively and interesting. Moreover, it would be so advantageous for it will be a big help in achieving my lesson objectives and it will heighten or maximize learning inside the classroom. Aside from the powerpoint presentation and visual aids, I can also make flash cards, cut-out letters and as much as possible learning resources that are made from indigenous or recyclable materials.

Give at least three benefits of doing a survey of available materials before making your own materials? Explain.

1. Surveying available materials can give me an idea on how these materials are significant to the lesson that I am going to deliver. Seeing their worth and how they are related to the subject matter would be functional. It will also serve as my guide in considering what materials/tools should be used. Upon seeing these instructional materials, in one way or the other, it can also give me suggestions on how am I going to deliver the lesson more understandable and beneficial.

2. Doing a survey can help me realize what other learning materials that I need to make or avail in order to enhance learning in my class. Doing surveys provide several options as well as bases for me to choose so that I can produce an appropriate and effective materials that should be based on students characteristics or learning styles and to my lesson objectives. It is also necessary that the materials must be applicable to the subject matter.

3. To be able to have an effective presentation of the lesson, I should be knowledgeable on the pros and cons of the materials that I will be using. Upon observing and surveying, I will be aware and able to maximize its use. With the knowledge and skills, the way on how I will deliver the topic will be more accurate and precise. The understanding of the procedures and guidelines in using the materials will make the educative process accessible. Having the appreciation of the usage of these learning materials would make me into a more effective and efficient facilitator of learning.

I like making powerpoint presentations because its easy for me to put different graphic designs, effects and transitions. I can also insert pictures, video clips and even sounds. My purpose of selecting powerpoint presentation among other instructional materials is to make a clear procedure in imparting knowledge; it is necessary for me to monitor and facilitate to make sure that students stay on track. I believe that making powerpoint presentations aid in enhancing creativity.

I did not encounter any problems in making the powerpoint presentations because I was exposed to this Microsoft Office program countless of times. Making a presentation using the feature is just an easy task. The only thing which I am concerned about is on how Im going to deliver the content in my presentation.

The teacher must assess first what the learning styles of his/her students. He/she must see to it that his/her materials will fit to the learning styles of the students and must be applicable for his/her subject matter for the materials to be effective. The chosen materials must be appropriate and can contribute to the achievement of the learning objectives. In todays generation, it is important for a teacher to meet the changing needs and interests of students , thus several factors must be considered such as practicability, availability, cost effectiveness and appropriateness that is based on students characteristics or learning styles and lesson objectives. The teacher may also do surveys to the available materials.
