 Letters Of Recommendation
◦ Doctoral programs require 3 letters
 One letter from a person with the degree level
you are obtaining
◦ Masters programs between 2-3 letters
◦ Need to be from faculty, advisers, or work
supervisors related to your field.
◦ Ask them if they can write you a STRONG letter
◦ Give them plenty of time to write letters, at
least one month preferably 2-3 months.
 Information to Give to Recommenders
◦ Thank you letter with info about why you’re
applying to the program, goals after grad
school, whether not you will mail the forms etc.
◦ Degree audit with GPAs highlighted/labeled
◦ Resume/CV
◦ List of all the schools you are applying to with
how the schools want their letters sent and
their deadlines
◦ Any supplemental forms they require
◦ Envelopes, stamps address labels etc.

◦ Most doctoral programs require at
least a 3.5
◦ Master programs at least 3.0
◦ Will usually only look at your last
sixty hours
◦ Not as important as GRE
