TAJ PALACE HOTEL,NEW DELHI


A hotel is a commercial establishment that offers lodging to travellers. Some may also offer lodging to permanent residents. Hotels may also have restaurants, conference rooms, stores, and other services that are available to the general public.

Introduction
Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi, is the perfect embodiment of world-class service and hospitality. With its well-appointed rooms and modern comforts, the hotel has played host to the heads of state, celebrities and high profile businessmen from across the world. Located in the very heart of the Indian capital, the location and unrivalled service are quintessentially Taj. The hotel is only a few minutes drive from both the airport and the city center and is near to most of the embassies in New Delhi

Location
Located in Luytens Delhi, towards the southwest of India Gate, the 11 storey hotel is a fine example of Mughal architecture in the city and is constructed out of pink Dholpur sandstone and is set amidst lush green gardens. The hotel has 300 luxury rooms, with 27 deluxe suites. The hotel has been awarded by the American Academy of Hospitality.

The Taj Mahal Hotel is a 5-star luxury hotel in Delhi, India.

Entry/exits
The entry to the site should be sophisticated, well maintained and having welcoming effect. Minimum width of the entrance should be proper enough to accommodate 2 e class 70 vehicles at a time. A security pit should have been installed with all the proper security instruments. The entrance should be well connected to the porch, open / basement as well as multi level parking if applicable. All entrance points should have car scanners installed at every entry / exit points.

Emergency entry should be mechanical as well as manual override in case of emergency.


Service entries are very critical as far as security is concerned so 2 or more checking pits with highly trained staff is required.

Parking
According to NBC-2005 the hotel comes in commercial category with special sub group residential commercial. Parking norms for this has been decided by the occupancy as an average of commercial residential

This can be further classified in to open parking, tourist bus parking ( at least 2) Basement parking

Multi level parking


Service parking (2 trucks) The parking for at most 30 cars in open is for visitors, shoppers Reserved parking for 50 cars should be either open or underground

Apart from parking for 15 hotel cars is reserved for delegates and tourist who could order & serve accordingly
In underground or multi level parking there should be provision of a lift to be accessible for physically challenged persons

Entrance lounges
From the porch the main entry with automatic control Normal visitor traffic . an allowance of 10 sq ft for each visitor to be served may be used for space allocation reception area with 2 booking agents (5m x 2.5) Seating place for 15 people (visitor lounge) Seating place for 25 people (guest lounge) A small coffee house or bar Height of the atrium would be maximum 3 storey (13.5 mtr) Express lifts, floor lifts and staircase core would be adjacent not more than 10 mtrs

DESIGN CONCEPT
THERE ARE TWO MAIN AREA IN A HOTEL: FRONT OF THE HOUSE BACK OF THE HOUSE The program separate these two areas into four main categories 1.Guest rooms 2.Public areas 3.The back of the house support area 4.Covered non conditioned exterior area FRONT OF THE HOUSE The 'greeting area, is known as the front of the house. Main areas in front of the house are The front of the house comprises every area that the guest will see ; lobbies, dining spaces, rest rooms, passenger elevators, corridors, hotel rooms, etc. BACK OF THE HOUSE The back of the house, was where food was prepared arid where the guests' service amenities were taken care of. THE MAIN FUNCTION OF BACK OF THE HOUSE laundering ,foodstuffs, housekeeping supplies, and a great many other items must be received out of sight of the hotel guests.

Of covers are not adequate guides. The following table provides an approximate basis for initial estimates of space requirement.
