Project Work-Phase I 1

OBJECTIVES
TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTIC OF ENGINE (BRAKE THERMAL EFFICIENCY). TO REDUCE NOX AND SMOKE EMISSIONS.

METHODOLOGY
LITERATURE SURVEY PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT PROPORTION OF BIODIESEL AND DIMETHOXYMETHANE FUEL BLENDS WITHOUT EGR PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT PROPORTION OF BIODIESEL AND DIMETHOXYMETHANE FUEL BLEND WITH EGR KEPT AS CONSTANT PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF CONSTANT PROPORTION OF BIODIESEL AND DIMETHOXYMETHANE FUEL BLEND WITH DIFFERENT EGR PROPORTION.

LITERATURE SURVEY
S No 1. Literature Title Inference Huang Z, Ren Y, Jiang D. Combustion and 1)With more addition of emission characteristics of a compression DMM, smoke and CO will ignition fuelled with Diesel-Dimethoxy decrease but NOX will methane blends .Energy Conversion and increases. Management 2006;47:1402-15 2)Brake Thermal Efficiency will increases by 0.5% for addition of 20% of DMM with diesel.

Ruijun Zhu , Xibin Wang , Haiyan Miao. Effect of dimethoxy-methane and exhaust gas recirculation on combustion and emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engine . Fuel (2011) 1731-1737.

1)Increasing EGR ratio decreases NOx to a large extent but increase CO emission sharply this is due to decrease of oxidation at later combustion phase is responsible. 2)Brake thermal Efficiency will decrease with increase in EGR ratio .
1)Expect NOX emission other emissions like HC,PM and CO will decrease .Also engine power output will decrease due to reduction of lower heating value of biodiesel.
