Chapter I Introduction
A. The Background of Research This research was conducted in the SMP N 2 Grogol. Based on the observation, this school has good human source (input) but low graduated (output). Besides, SMP N 2 Grogol has good facilities to support teaching learning process. The other result of observation and interview found several problem dealing speaking skill of the students such: 1. The students lack of the motivation in learning. 2. The Students were not interesting. 3. The students passive in teaching learning process.

Meanwhile, the problem found from interview with English teacher such as: 1. The students confused when they asked to speak, because they have no sufficient vocabulary. 2. The students lack of confident, and; 3. The students lazy to participate on the class.

On the other hand there are reason why those problem arise from students and teacher side.
1. From the students side: a. The students think that English was difficult. Its why the students lazy to learning English also participate in the class. b. The teacher used teacher-centered, it made the students were not interest in English class. c. The teacher rarely used learning media to keep students interest. 2. From the teachers side: a. The teachers technique. b. The teachers way to develop students speaking skill is nothing

1. How is the implementation of retelling technique using movie to improve students speaking skill in the students of the eight grade of SMP N 2 Grogol in the 2013/2014 academic year? 2. How do the students response of eighth grade of SMP N 2 Grogol toward the implementation of retelling technique using movie in learning English? 3. How is the improvement of students speaking skill through retelling technique using movie from teaching speaking of

the eight grade students of SMP N 2 Grogol in academic year

A. Conclusion 1. The implementation of retelling technique using movie to improving students speaking skill. When retelling technique was implemented in teaching

speaking, it could improve students fluency, grammar,


pronunciation and vocabulary and the indicators of problems significantly decreased.

2. The students respond about implementation retelling technique in teaching learning process.

Most of the students said that they like the retelling story
being implemented toward the learning process of speaking. From the students comments given after conducting the research about

89% students like retelling implementation in the teaching


learning process. Meanwhile, around 11% students did not like the retelling technique.

3. The improvement of students speaking skill by retelling technique in speaking class

Through retelling technique using movie students were more


confident and became brave to speak up more without being afraid of making mistakes in front of class. The improvement

showed that students had changed and improved their speaking


skills. Their scores became increase and more than half students reached the passing grade and the target for speaking score was

achieved.

B. Implication The retelling story can improve the students speaking skill. The

media which involve when teaching learning can attract their


attention so that the students felt more enjoy and active in English class. Before performing a retelling in front of class the students and

teacher discussed some new vocabularies they found in the story


and also the synonyms. This activity increase students vocabularies. On the other hand, retelling is fun and relaxing. And the students

felt more confident to speak in front of the class.

C. Suggestion 1. For English Teachers The English teachers should create an enjoyable situation in teaching learning process so that the students can participate actively in the class. 2. For The Students The students should involve actively in English class and practice the English frequently 3. For The Institution Researcher hope the institution can arrange a program both for teacher and students 4. For The Other Researcher The researcher hopes other researcher will be inspired and motivated to conduct a research to improve students speaking skill. The researcher also hopes that there will be other researchers who conduct other techniques in teaching learning speaking.
