What is Keyboard?
The set of typewriter-like keys that enables you to
enter data into a computer. Computer keyboards are
similar to electric-typewriter keyboards but contain
additional keys. The keys on computer keyboards are
often classified as follows:
 Alphanumeric keys -- letters and numbers.

 Punctuation keys -- comma, period, semicolon ,and

so on.

 Special keys -- function keys, control keys, arrow

keys, Caps Lock key ,and so on.

The standard layout of letters, number, and

punctuation is known as a QWERTY keyboard.
What is Virtual Keyboard?
 A virtual keyboard
consists of a laser
that projects an image
of a keyboard onto
a flat surface which
can then be typed on
as if it were actually
there.
 The Virtual Keyboard
attaches to handhelds
and projects the image
of a full-size keyboard
onto the surface of the
desk where the
handheld is placed,
allowing the user to
input text without a
physical keyboard.
HOW ITS WORK?
Step1:Template creation (Projection Module)
A template of the desired interface is projected
onto the adjacent interface surface. The template
is produced by illuminating a specially designed
,highly efficient holographic optical element with a
red diode laser.

Step2: Reference plane illumination (Micro-

illumination Module TM)
A infra-red plane of light is generated just above,
and parallel to the, interface surface. This light is
invisible to the user and hovers a few millimeter
above the surface.
Step3:Map reflection coordinates (sensor module)
Reflected light from user interaction with the
interface surface is passed through an infra-red
filter and imaged on to a CMOS image sensor in
the sensor module.
Custom hardware embedded in the sensor chip
the makes a real-time determination of the location
of the reflected light.
The processing core can track multiple reflection
events simultaneously and can thus support both
multiple keystrokes and overlapping cursor control
inputs.
Virtual Keyboard for Pc’s
 A keyboard image is
projected onto any
surface. Touching a
key’s image generates
a unique electronic
signal corresponding
to the key’s image that
was touched.
Virtual keyboard for PDA’s
 There are no
mechanical moving
parts whatsoever in
the Virtual Laser
Keyboard, it provides a
projected image that is
the perfect portable
input device for PDA’s.
Features of Virtual keyboard
 About the size of a small cellular phone, (90 x 34 x
24 mm), the VKB enables users to type texts or e-
mails as easily as with a ordinary keyboard.
Imagine how easy it would be, if you had a proper
mobile phone keyboard that fits in your pocket...

 VKB's adaptable technology studies the user's

finger movements to interpret and record
keystrokes.
