CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBLITY

Corporate initiative to assess and take responsibility for the company's effects on the environment and impact on social welfare. Corporate social responsibility may also be referred to as "corporate citizenship" and can involve incurring short-term costs that do not provide an immediate financial benefit to the company, but instead promote positive social and environmental change. CSR is a process to achieve sustainable development in societies.

HUL's CSR philosophy is embedded in its commitment to all stakeholders -- consumers, employees, the environment and the society that the organization operates in. HUL believes that it is this commitment which will deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

HUL implements its CSR activities is Project Asha Daan the Missionaries of Charity (an NGO founded by late Mother Teresa). Ankur : A center for special education of challenged children .These children were taught basic skills such as cookery ,weabing,bamboo craft etc depending on their aptitudes . Sanjivani :Awareness camp on hygiene . Child immunization camp Iron supplement therapy . Free eye check ups. Anti-tobacco education Anti alcoholism camps

Till date Asian Paints has influenced citizens to harvest over 100 million litres of rain water. They have now impacted over 100,000 needy senior citizens in just two years through our initiatives in age care providing them with medical care at their door steps through Mobile Medicare units .

Most of our international units continued with their efforts of making a difference to the community.

Over 5500 patients received treatments for various ailments such as Hypertension, Cataract, COPD (coronary obstructive pulmonary disease), Arthritis and Diabetes. Moreover aids such as walkers, crutches, wheel-chairs and beds were provided to the needy patients by the company The Plant also gave elders a reason to smile with dentures being fitted on over 150 people in and around the plant.

Many projects like material collection drive and blood donation camps are organized for the welfare of the underprivileged community. Bharti constantly searches for new, innovative ways of reducing the consumption of resources, with the aim of leaving a better and greener earth for future generations. Although CSR is executed at all levels in the organization, the Promoters of Bharti Enterprises established Bharti Foundation in 2000 with a vision, To help underprivileged children and youth of our country realize their potential.

Bharti Foundations mission is to create and support programs that bring about sustainable changes through education, use of technology and information and best practice sharing. Bharti Foundation has established itself the goals of improving accessibility and quality of education at the school level for underprivileged children, and to provide education and training opportunities to youth.
